Lamp was heavy, easy to setup but important information was not in the description. There are no knobs on the lamp whatsoever and both lights are controlled by one foot pedal. On the pedal is a push button for the halogen lamp (on/off only) and there is a slide on the pedal which acts as a dimming switch for the top lamp which only accepts incandescent bulbs, not the CFLs. Overall a very attractive lamp that was easy to setup. Sturdy base and dimming option is a huge bonus.

We used this lamp probably twice a week. In the last week, only the reading light works-the ambient top circuit does not work. Of course we tried changing lightbulbs & we know it is the circuit that is malfunctioning. As far as I know, lamps don't have replaceable fuses so we don't have a way to repair it. The lamp looked nice but I couldn't recommend a product that only lasts a year.However, the customer service from overstock.com has been helpful and I think we would shop them again.

This is a very good quality light. It may be on the pricey side, but it is well worth it. I have looked at less expensive lamps at local stores - but they don't even come close to the quality of this one. Well worth the money paid in my opinion.

halogen bulb TOO bright, nice light otherwise. foot pedal is sensitive and works well. i wish the stem tightened into the base better, seems wimpy. lights up a room well.

I had been looking for just the right floor lamp with a reader and was so happy when I found this item. The main light dims to the level you want and the reader adjusts to the angle you need. This looks very elegant without breaking the bank and the quality of the light is excellent. I was a bit worried about it wobbling back and forth on the ground like some floor lamps tend to do when you purchase them at a decent price, but it had no stability problems. I highly recommend this!

This lamp goes next to my reading chair. Looks very nice - gets nice comments. Gets daily use and has not had any problems after a year. BUT - the description fails to mention that the only way to turn it on and off is with a foot control. My house is not laid out so that is either easy to use or good looking. I need to buy 3 more similar lamps. I am shying away from this, despite loving the styling, because of the awkward controls.

I purchased this for my guest room. Very pleased with this purchase. I especially like the weight of the lamp. It is set next to bed as a reading lamp and don't worry about it falling over when turning light on or off.

Very nice product, heavy and well made. But we did not receive the color as stated, Black/Chrome. We received all Chrome but decided to keep it.

Lamp is of very good quality & very contemporary. Love the foot switch dimmer option. I ordered two for my new house and they look like art pieces by themselves. I've been shopping with Overstock for over 4 yrs now and no disappoinments EVER!

This is a great value. Very artistic looking, and matches all decors. Sturdy lamp, and easy to assemble. We like it a lot!

I only rated the appearance a 4 because I'm not wild about the shiny chrome (I'd prefer it to be a matte or satin finish, like the rest of the lamp). But this was very easy to assemble, and the on/off switch is very cool; you can have the reading light on or off, separate from the top light, which is on a sliding dimmer switch, and the whole switch box sits on the floor next to your chair. I'm very pleased with this, and it shipped ultra fast.

Like Gonzagafan, I saw my lamp die after two years. I love the look of the lamp, but need it to work after two years.

We bought the lamp to serve a few different purposes- ambient lighting in our smaller size living room, and to provide me with task lighting for reading or craft projects. The dimmer switch option for the ambient "torchiere" portion provides nice control for mood lighting, and the halogen bulb for task lighting suits my needs. It's also possible to use both simultaneously. We've put the dimmer switch onto a table for ease of use from the primary chair I use- makes it much easier than using it as a floor/foot adjustment. Overall I'm very satisfied.

I ordered two of these lamps and they are great. First of all the on/off switch is located between the lamp base and the wall plug, and is intended to be turned on and off by your foot. The torchiere lighting is dimmable with a sliding plate there's an on/off button for the halogen light. When the lamp is off, there's a orange 'locater' light on the switchplate so you can find it in the dark. Because of that, you can't really tuck these lamps behind furniture as many other of this style because you need access to the floor switch. The base is heavy and sturdy, the lamp itself easy to assemble. Because you can dim the torchiere light, you can have just the right lighting mood. Pricey but nice.

Easy assembly, very elegant in appearance. We have received many compliments on the lamps and how they match our decor.

This lamp is both functional and beautiful, and adds a bit of flair to my traditional living room. I am very pleased with its multi-functional lighting, and everything works as it was designed to. I am NOT one who puts things together well, but this was pretty simple. The hardest part was getting everything out of the box -- it was packed very well. Shipping time was well under a week.

It is bigger than appeared and a little gaudy, but gives off great light; good for a study, den or family room.
