Jillian Modern Extendable Coffee Table

This is a very nice looking table and the picture on Overstock is accurate, but a few cautionary notes about buying it that you might want to take into consideration beforehand. The first table that Overstock sent me was very well packaged and there was no damage to the box, but it arrived with 5 very scratched and damaged pieces, which led me to believe that it was sent out with the damaged pieces. In other words, it looked like a quality control problem wherever it was originally manufactured (which was China, of course). I should also mention at the outset that the veneer is quite thin and scratches easily. Like most inexpensive furniture, this is made out of particle board with a wood grain veneer on top. That's not a bad thing per se, but the veneer on this table seems thinner than most and I don't expect the table to last a couple of years without it starting to look pretty scratched-up and worn. So if you plan on subjecting the table to moderate or heavy use, chances are that it won't last very long and continue to look good. Time will tell for me as I have it in my office where it's not going to be used nearly as much as opposed to if it were in my home. (And if you have kids who will be using it, it most certainly won't last very long.) At almost $$$, I think the table is priced too high given the fair to average quality. Anyway, I called Overstock about the scratched pieces and the company agreed to ship out a replacement table. And they promised that they would inspect the pieces beforehand to make sure that it was undamaged. When I got the table, it was much better than the last one, but there was still 2 scratched pieces--including on the tabletop itself, where it's the most visible. I decided that I could live with it and put the table together. (And I really didn't have the energy anymore to keep looking for a table.) It assembled fairly easy--although I've seen better instructions--but there was a piece on the bottom of the drawer unit that did not fit properly (the holes were not lined-up) and took some effort and modification (and force) on my end to make work. I called Overstock again to let them know about the table and the problems I had. The company was willing to have it shipped back, but I told them that I could live with it although I wasn't really pleased about the quality. A supervisor called me back personally to discuss the problem--which was a pleasant surprise. To make a long story short, Overstock gave me a $$$ credit back to my credit card and a $$$ shopping credit on my Overstock account. Overstock's customer service was responsive and terrific, so I have no complaints whatsoever there, but as I mentioned above the quality of the table and where it's manufactured is very questionable, so you might want to factor that into your decision before buying it.
