Have it made in the shade with this colorful cantilever umbrella, built on a durable aluminum pole and steel-ribbed canopy. Fast crank system makes it easy to set up, and lush colors like yellow, cranberry, forest green make it a patio or deck accent....more
This product was a big disappointment. The design is gorgeous: engineering all makes sense,
and once it is up, fully extended and open, it looks beautiful. HOWEVER, the base is too flimsy
to withstand wind, even when weighted down with sandbags per intstruction. The aluminum base bars
simply bend, even though weighted, and the thing falls over. In addition, the one element that supports
the umbrella (which is big and heavy) when fully extended is a flimsy piece of plastic that broke after
a few days of use. Which makes the entire unit now unusable. It would be too expensive and backbreaking to box it back up for return, so I have to drag it to the curb for trash pick up, and just eat the $*** price tag on the product. What's worse than that, though, is that the base, in bending, left scratches and gouges in muy beautiful deck. Permanent damage. Even if you were to bolt the base to your deck, the lightweight aluminum base would still bend with pressure, and probably tear a deck board out. A real shame, since it is beautiful. It needs to be built with heavy gage metal to support the weight of the ten ft umbrella. A total loss.

The umbrella arrived within a few days of ordering. The hardware was loose in the box and I came up one bolt and washer short of a complete kit. But I'm one of those guys who keeps spare hardware just for circumstances like this, and I happened to have the hardware in my garage. If I hadn't, a quick trip to the hardware store would have solved the problem. Annoying? Yes. Insurmountable? Definitely not. I put the umbrella together in less than 30 minutes and everything functions fine (for now). I anchored the base with about 150 pounds of sand bags. Seeing how much weaker this umbrella is than the one it replaced, I will always have it folded away when not in use.

I had one of these umbrellas and knew what to expect. The base needs to be either bolted down to a concrete slab, or do what I did: use an existing fence post to secure it from falling during light winds (I used four stainless steel hose clamps, with a few wooden spreaders to allow the sliding mast to work correctly.)
This umbrella also needs one or two bungee cords when the wind starts picking up. Other than the above, it gives a good amount of shade for a few chairs under the sun....

Please tell us about the quality of the product. Seems to be OK, but I can see the base is the weak point.

biggest issue besides color was a $**return price that I had to pay--the color on the webpage was what I wanted, however the color was completely off and I have to pay to return. Not good, in my opinion. Probably will not deal with them again.

The size is just right to keep the sun off our dock. The fabric is heavy, so you have to be sting and adept to uncrank and crank it. Once it is open, it's just a happy sight!
How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Color was just what I wanted
Please tell us about the quality of the product. Mechanism to crank works well. Fabric is sturdy. Assembles easily.
How accurate was the on site description of the product? Description was good. You should know that the base requires 4 patio blocks, which might work in a lite breeze, but we slid out umbrella down over a pier pipe.
So far, so good! I recently purchased two of these umbrellas in orange. I am very happy with the design and also the 10ft circumference. They are very nice looking and add a tropical, vacation feel to the pool area. I purchased two for the patio area near my pool. They cover most of the area with shade which is great. We get full sun most of the day which was a bit much. I love the vivid color. Hopefully the material will hold up in the sun. The finish on the pole area is of good quality. Delivery was prompt and the product was packaged well. No dents or rips...it was perfect when it arrived. Overstock was nice enough to give me the sale product on both as the purchase was made on the first umbrella only one week prior to the sale. The rep was very nice. I have made several purchases at overstock and have been very pleased with all of them. I think this umbrella is a good quality for the money ( I have seen others priced from *** to ***). Make sure you secure the base. We used brackets drilled into our concrete, then slid the poles under the brackets. My husband did it himself. You can get some at home depot. If you don't use brackets be sure to weigh down the base with 100 lbs or the wind WILL tip it. Enjoy!
The item was easy to assemble (very little assembly required) and easy to erect. The base is not all that stable, and needs to be mounted on a board or screwed onto a deck floor (couple sandbags word as well). But it functions well, is sturdy, looks great and covers a wide area. Perfect for my needs at an exceptional price.
The umbrella is attractive. I am 5'1". If I struggle and open it myself, I am OK. It is not easy, but I can manage with some struggling. If someone else opens the umbrella, I often cannot reach the handle at all. I am at the mercy of someone else to close it. It is by our pool and it is simply an unacceptable risk to know the winds are rising or a storm is coming and not be able to close it to prevent it becoming a projectile into neighbors' homes and yards. Also, it is far too easy to pinch your hand when trying to lift the mechanism up enough to open it, and even easier to pinch your hand when bringing it down. I will never buy the cantilever style of umbrella again. It appears as sturdy as most, and it is attractive. It is far too difficult, however, to open and close, including the potential to really hurt hands.
The umbrella is very easy to assemble. Like most umbrellas, it must be anchored using concrete. And, like most umbrellas, you should close it in high winds and NEVER leave it open unattended for days when you will be away. A big winds WILL damage it. My concern is umbrella canopy fabric is so thin you can actually see through it. It is the cheapest fabric that I ever seen. Although it is brand new, I am in the process of seeking to buy a replacement fabric for it. If I knew the fabric was so thin. I would not have purchased it. In good faith, I can't recommend to buy it. However, I only paid ***. So, once again, you get what you pay for. I just might buy a more expensive one from a store so I can actually see it BEFORE I buy it. .
Can the umbrella be easily removed from the base and put into a pool side umbrella hole for dual use?allison5678 on Jul 20, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello allison5678, this umbrella is designed to be stationary and must be anchored with 4 concrete flagstones (100 Lbs. Minimum) or with bolts anchored directly into concrete. It is not designed to be used in an umbrella hole. We hope this information is helpful. Thank you for shopping with us. Vicki Hoverstockcustomercare2 on Jul 24, 2014

There really aren't any, but it's rather self explanatory when you open the box.lindahyden on Jun 19, 2014
What is the diameter of the pole? Also, is there a bolt pattern pre-drilled for attaching to concrete and if so what is the bolt pattern size? Thank youatchief1 on Apr 9, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello atchief1, the pole is 2 inches in diameter. This umbrella is not designed to be attached to the ground. If you attach the umbrella to the ground its at your own risk.
However to answer the question, there is a square bracket that attaches to the base frame.
The distance between the centers of the holes is 3 ¾. Have a great day!
