Hi. I had asked about the width between the legs to try to fit 2 chairs on one side. I appreciate the response of 40-55. However, i just want to double check this. I was under the impression that the legs were stationary and only the table top portion extended. Maybe I'm wrong but just wanted to double check. Is 40 the width between the legs at the head of the or the table before its expanded.? 55. Thx!

I was definitely looking for a table that was not too large for my limited patio area but that could seat 6 people if possible. This fits the bill. It went together quite quickly and works very well. The finish is very minimal on this table, so be prepared to address that during the first year to keep it from aging too rapidly. I wanted to change its' color so I wasn't looking for a super heavy finish to start. One comment.... the table is pretty narrow and seating people on both sides will work..however placemats would be right up to each other not leaving room for other serving items on the table itself. You would definitely want a side table nearby.Read More
The color of this table was misleading. In the picture the color looked looked like teak, but in reality it was more similar to maple.Read More
The color and construction are great. Hubby found it very easy to assemble, with good instructions. I'm applying two coats of Teak Oil to retain it beauty. The stored folding leaf works great.Read More
Reason for this review. Love Overstock, have ordered from OS before. When table arrived the box was in very bad condition. It had been retaped to keep contents inside. All parts were in package. When putting the table together following instructions, to put all screws in place and not tighten all the way. We discovered one piece under table top is split at the screw hole. My husband thinks he can secure it and not have to send the table back. Will have to wait and see. Don't know what to do if we do have to send back the box will not do. The table style is perfect for our needs. Hope the "fix" works. If not I am sure OS will replace with no problem.Read More
I will never buy Royal Tahiti brand again. The table, and matching chairs I purchased less than a year ago are very poor quality. The table top is splitting in places, the slats on top are shifting and not flat, so if you're eating at the table, your plates are shifting. It looks very worn, and we didn't even use it that much. You can almost wipe off the finish, and it doesn't seem to have any kind of urethane on it. We were considering trying to sand it down to get it flat, reinforce the slats that are loose and coat it in polyurethane, but frankly, we shouldn't have to take those steps on a product less than a year old. This table (and the chairs) was a complete waste of money. It's an outdoor set, so one can expect that it can be outside without falling apart in less than a year.Read More
The table was exactly what I was looking for. Fits a small space but expandable to seat 6 if needed. Very good design and well made. Came with the wrong set of instructions for assembly but it wasn't too hard to figure out.Read More
This is a very nice table, especially for the price. Before buying, I read all of the reviews and should have paid better attention to the one that recommended going to a hardware store and getting all new screws instead of using the ones provided. The hardware that comes with the table includes some very long screws that are supposed to go in with the supplied hex/Allen wrench, but the drilled holes are very tight and the amount of effort needed to get them in means that they easily get stripped and you end up with them only halfway in. You can use the short screws if you lubricate the threads by rubbing them on a bar of soap, but for the long ones, you really are better off replacing them with real screws that can go in with a drill driver or a proper screwdriver. Except for that, it is a great table--looks great and the butterfly expansion leaf is very handy and works smoothly.Read More
Nice solid wood unit. I like the integral extension. The mechanism works smoothly. Very sturdy and useful size. Other reviewers have noted the poor quality of the allen wrench supplied (tends to round quickly) and the screw heads which will strip if the wrench is not perfectly centered and carefully torqued. Cheap steel on both! However I took time, vaselined the screws to facilitate seating and managed to assemble it. I sprayed the exposed metal parts and screw heads with wax based protectant since I am on the beach. I would also recommend wiping it down one time with a 50/50 mixture of Wipe-On Poly and Teak Oil for a lasting weather resistant finish. IF you are prepared to take your time, you can arrive at a very nice finished product.Read More

Popular Styles of Dining Tables
Dining rooms are only as good as the dining tables used to decorate them. It doesn't matter if you're completely remodeling or you merely want to upgrade your dining area; dining tables are one of the most important pieces of furniture for your kitchen or dining room. Your dining room is more than just a place to eat. It's a place where wonderful memories are made, whether with friends or family, during weekly dinners or over the holidays. Best End Tables for Each Room
Although the most popular room for end tables is undoubtedly the living room, you can place these tables in nearly every room in your home. When considering how to fit end tables in the rooms of your home, consider the room decor and whether or not the style of the end table matches your own. Even more basic than the style of end table is its shape, so consider how it will fit into your room. End tables can be square, rectangular, round or oval. Some end tables even nest together. One shape of end table might look best next to a recliner, while another might be perfect next to a sectional sofa. Look carefully at the room in which you will be placing the end tables. Is dark wood or light wood prevalent? Is it a small room or large room? Will the table sit in a corner, against a wall or in the middle of the room? As you can see, end tables are quite flexible. Here are some tips on placing end tables in your home.

How to Get Sticky Spills off of Dining Room Tables
The last thing you want on dining room tables is a sticky spill. Not only is sticky residue unsightly on dining room tables, it can also brush up against your clothes, stick to plates or other items and just be a general hassle. Don't tolerate sticky messes on your dining table. In fact, the sooner you clean it up, the easier the process will be. Plus, leaving messes too long can damage the surface or appearance of your kitchen table. Chances are you'll want your dining set to last as long as possible. Here are a few tips to cleaning up sticky residue and keeping your dining table set in prime condition.
How to Organize Clutter on a Dining Room Table
All too often, kitchen and dining room tables become a catchall for things, often because of a lack of organization and storage options. When children come home from school, the jackets and backpacks land on the kitchen table as kids head to the refrigerator. After doing several loads of laundry, clean clothes can end up on the dining room table. Mail, bills, books, phone chargers and accessories seem to migrate to this location over time. Cleaning off the dining room table can give your family back a space to come together and socialize without the presence of a TV.
How to Decorate Your Dining Room with Round Area Rugs
Add color and warmth to your dining room by laying area rugs atop hardwood or tiled floors. Round area rugs are a perfect fit for dining rooms with circular tables. Whether it's the main dining table, a decorative accessory table or simply a floor lamp with a spherical lamp shade, round area rugs are the perfect accent piece. They can also be used to freshen the look of worn or stained carpet in a well-used dining room.
Dining Tables Buying Guide
Selecting a dining table seems simple enough, but since it gets a great deal of use, you want to make sure you choose the right one. Your dining room table can serve as a daily meeting place for family, the place where loved ones gather to celebrate holidays and milestones, or a staging area for big projects; all that adds up to one significant piece of furniture. To find your ideal dining room table, consider these features: size, capacity, shape, and style.
Bistro Tables for Outdoor Dining
Sharing a meal with family or friends outdoors is a refreshing change from sitting around the dining room table. Bistro tables add elegance and charm to any outdoor patio, balcony, porch or garden area when entertaining. When set for two, a cozy bistro set encourages conversation in close proximity. Whether you're sharing a meal with an intimate date or having brunch with a few friends, bistro tables make the experience quaint and enjoyable.
How to Set the Dinner Table
Dinner tables are set differently depending on the type of dinnerware and what food is served. Casual dinner table settings provide each person with the three basic pieces of silverware while formal dinner table settings provide guests with a separate piece of silverware for each course served. Plates, bowls, silverware, napkins and glasses are all part of the necessary dinnerware for setting the table. Having separate dinnerware sets for both formal and casual dining events is very helpful for setting the table appropriately.
How to Remove Scratches from a Wooden Table
Scratches on wooden dining tables not only present an unsightly appearance; they leave the wood unprotected and open to staining and moisture. Scratches can be slight or deep, and removing each type requires a different method of repair. The finish of your wooden table also plays a part in how to remove the scratches, especially if the scratch is deep.
How to Measure for a Dining Table
A beautiful dining table is not only the centerpiece of any dining room; it is often the heart of the home as well. Many people choose the largest dining table they can, but it's important to ensure that you have adequate space not only for the table but also for the chairs and the people who will be sitting in them. Measuring your dining area for a perfect fit isn't complicated and will guarantee a comfortable dining experience for years to come.

Read on for a variety of helpful table setting ideas and tips on creating dining table settings.

In many families, the dining room table has been well taken care of and handed down from generation to generation. Carefully consider how and where you will be using your table before you choose to purchase one.
How to Decorate a Dining Room Table
For most people, the days are gone where you reserve the dining room table for special occasions like Thanksgiving dinner. The dining table once stayed in a room of its own, closed off from the rest of the house. Keep your look fresh and sophisticated by decorating your dining room table with functional and stylish pieces.
