I'm so happy with these blackout curtains! I ordered 2 sets for a large double wide window measuring 80" wide and hung them on a rod with matching clip-on rings, (also from Overstock,) that I extended to 106" wide. This creates the illusion of a much wider window and allows me to pull the curtains open and have the bulk of the fabric on either side without blocking the view. When the curtains are pulled closed there is still plenty of material to create soft folds across the window. This blocks about 95% of the light through this east-facing window.I bought the gray which is more of a blue-gray, as another reviewer mentioned. It works beautifully with my soft gray carpet even though there is no blue tone to the carpet color. The curtain fabric is the same color on both sides and has a somewhat heavy, yet soft, silky texture that drapes beautifully. I was surprised that the thread used was white, not gray, and the hem is just straight stitched, not a more hidden hem-stitch that I would have used if I made them myself. I thought that was going to be pretty noticeable but frankly, now that they are hung, it doesn't bother me enough to complain. I ironed them before hanging them, although they weren't overly wrinkled. Overall, the look is beautiful, they block the light effectively and I would definately buy them again at this great price.
I compared this product with 2 others sets of curtains from two major department stores. (one starts with "S" the other with a "K") These curtains were mid-range between both stores in terms of price, but the quality is superior! I have 2 large sliding glass doors that face West, so as the winter winds started to blow, I needed a solution. When this product arrived, I immediate loved the color and texture. When I hung them up, they definitely blocked out more light than the other ones I had tried. I can already tell a difference in the reduction of cold air that used to enter my living room. I never know what to think of these ratings when I read them. It's hard to order curtains without seeing them first. After shopping around, I had to leave a comment and highly recommend these.
I liked these curtains enough to buy them for 5 rooms in my home. The feel of the fabric is soft and smooth and they drape nicely. They're not heavy or stiff. I have purchased Chocolate, Beige and Dark Olive. The two darker colors do a great job of blocking light, the Beige not as well but still very good--good enough to use in the room of my day-sleeping shift-worker.(The Beige is not a gold at all but more of a very nice Stone or Antique White color.) We have a room with a wall of large windows and they help a lot with insulating. Before hanging I tossed them in the dryer with a damp cloth for 10-15 min. , hung them up right away, and all wrinkles or folds disappeared.
As someone familiar only with heavy, rubber-backed insulated drapes, I think the manufacturers seriously under-promoted that aspect of this product in the description. I can't believe how soft they are, and how well they hang and drape, nothing like the old insulated curtains. The fabric has a rich feel, but silky smooth, and it completely blocks the light, even direct sunlight. You may have a little light bleed through at the top where the rod is, but the fabric itself is totally, surprisingly, opaque. You can't tell if it's day or night, at least through the fabric.
All of us online shoppers know the feeling of buying an item, and, once it arrives, finding out that it somehow doesn't live up to our expectations. This product exceeded my expectations, and will probably go into my Hall of Fame of Great Online Finds. Score one for the shopper!
I loved these curtains, but I ordered the gray and they are not gray. They are a smoke blue, they look terrible next to anything that is gray. If you are looking for the gray, do not order them because gray will not be what you get. Other than the color being really off on this one, I really liked the darkening they provided to the room. Seemed to help with outside noise as well. I had to return them and no other color will work for the gray I need.
Bought two sets for a room with our futon for when we need to our guests to have privacy in an extra room with lots of glass. Not only is the silky material of high quality, they don't take up much room and came with the same material to hold in a swag. Great quality for the price.
I bought this pair to hang on a pressure rod to cover a messy looking storage area. It serves this purpose well, hiding the boxes but allowing easy access to the area when needed. I'm not using it as a blackout curtain.

I am curious about how easily the drapes pleat when opened. I have backatb curtains in my daughters room and they do not open very easily, or pleat very nicely. I have to tug them across the rod and they just hang kind of messy. I would like these for our master bedroom, but would like them to open easily and pleat nicely as if they were grommet top drapes. Any input?Nicoleann310 on Feb 5, 2015Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I have a wooden curtain rod. The back tabs are quite large, so they do slide easily and drape nicely. If you had a thinner rod, you could also feed the drapes through the smaller opening, rather than the back tabs.jfogarty on Feb 23, 2015
Hello lwag2014, to me beige is a little bit lighter than tan. We try to represent the colors of our products accurately. Unfortunately, due to the difference in monitor colors we cannot guarantee that the color will match exactly what you see on your screen. overstockcustomercare1 on Jan 22, 2015
Yes. I ordered these in black and both side were indeed the same color.missmaggiemoo on Jan 14, 2015

Can these curtains be hung outside on a patio setting or are they only indoor recommended?cbwile81 on Dec 30, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
They aren't made for outdoors.sunaverse on Jan 1, 2015
I like the look of these curtains and need black-outs. However, I want to use them as replacements on my family room French doors and the rod I use is one with a cord to pull open the curtains. I believe they call the current curtains "pinch pleats" and I'm wondering if these curtains will work on my curtain rod. I don't want to change them to a manual rod. Thanks for any help you can provide.eagle4378 on Dec 29, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
If your pinch pleats are the ones that have the metal hook that goes into the curtain, you could put those hooks onto this curtain, but it could tear. On a pinch pleat curtain, they make a place for the hook to go and the hook is sewn in sort of. The material on these curtains doesn't seem thick enough to put heavy metal hooks in it and then pulling it back and forth on the pull string. Also, the black out is not complete.sunaverse on Jan 1, 2015
I have the royal blue and they are blackout. Can't say about lighter colours. You would need use an appropriate rod, not one made for the older style pinch pleat.consavery on Jan 10, 2015
I have a set of 4 windows that measure 162in (allowing about 4in on either side) wide, I would like to order these and was wondering how many sets I would need, also can you suggest a curtain rod that would be about 162in long?Scott on Dec 18, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello Scott, thank you for your inquiry. This set does include two panels that is a total of 104 inches wide for entire width. We do apologize, we are not currently in stock with curtain rods that extend to 162 inches long. Thank you for shopping with us. overstockcustomercare1 on Dec 18, 2014
I have a 90" wide patio door and purchased 2 sets for each side for a total of 4 panels. I bought a room darkening curtain rod on another site but you can do a word search on O. to find some. Curtains are really a beautiful color but if your main thing is a totally blackout room, it might disappoint and didn't notice a thermal effect. But they are a really beautiful blue - very hard to find a blue so nice.sunaverse on Jan 1, 2015
HOW HEAVY IS EACH CURTAIN? I want to make sure my line rod system can support them. Thanks.mar on Dec 15, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
These curtains are a great weight, not so heavy that my 8 foot rods cannot support two of them plus center panels. I have used both the 95" and the 84" panels in this way, on a single rod. To me they are surprisingly lightweight for curtains that are thermal and keep out both cold and hot air . However they have enough weight so they drape just beautifully, they are NOT thin.fenwayfem on Dec 17, 2014
Hello mar, the pair weighs only about four pounds. Thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Dec 17, 2014
They aren't heavy like velvet or other curtains. Material is substantial but not overly heavy. I have 4 panels (2 sets) on a 95" rod and it's no problem.sunaverse on Jan 1, 2015
The curtains are not nearly as heavy as top-quality blackout curtains. However, the Walmart rods that we thought would support them quickly became U-shaped!anatucumana on Jan 7, 2015
These are, by even the most modest standards Definitely TOP QUALITY thermal curtains as review after review states. on my double windows I have 4 pairs of curtains. 2 pair of thermal curtains with decorative curtains between them, all of which puddle on the floor and drape beautifully . These high quality thermal drapes/curtains GORGEOUS as well as a terrific medium weight.fenwayfem on Jan 7, 2015
