I ordered the sofa and the loveseat without their being a previous review of them. When they arrived I was very pleased to see that they are manufactured by a division of EthanAllen. The couch must be assembled. I did it with a friend and we did both in about an hour (would have gone quicker if I were more careful about following the instructions regarding the size of the screws). The sofa and loveseat are very handsome...sophisticted. They are a very dark charcoal. The cushions are extremely firm. Some people like this, others don't. It isn't the type of couch to sink in and cuddle and watch a movie, but it is very attractive. I am using it in an office, and it is just fine. It is a great price and looks great. Doesn't come with the colored/striped accent pillows, but I didn't care for them anyway. Put my own on and looks even better.
I ordered 2 of these couches and I have to say, I have never seen such poor quality furniture. The prior review rated this furniture very favorable. Definitely not the case. I sent both couches back. Will never order upholstered items online again
I received this sofa yesterday in multiple boxes which did require 2 people to put together. The fabric and look are the only redeeming qualities of this sofa. It is made of very flimsy material, so flimsy that I was extra careful moving the sofa into place. I am keeping it because it's put together and will not get a lot of use, so it should last a few years. The sofa was fairly difficult to put together, and I am patient and read all directions before starting :). The screws for the arms go inside of the back (thru a zipped compartment) that was pretty hard to find when you can't see what you're doing (because they are inside). That said, the rest of the project was simple enough. However, the last two screws for the single metal center bar that the seat rests on were too long, so I've got to get some shorter ones at the hardware store to make a firm connection. (the screws sent would have poked thru the fabric). The support seat is made of a very flimsy plywood (?) and seems to have some very small springs. I'm going to have a piece of plywood cut to put below this support piece, it just doesn't feel substantial enough to risk someone flopping down on the sofa (as you do) and breaking it. That negative bit said, the sofa is attractive, and VERY firm, which I like for a conversational area - which is what I'm using the sofa for. It will be very easy to sit with a drink or plate of food comfortably. This is not a lounging sofa, and not quite long enough for napping (if you're over 5'5"). I am using the sofa in a small space, which works well. It's a low profile, small sofa - in between a loveseat and a sofa, actually. 3 people will be able to sit on the sofa for short amounts of time. Hopefully, I will get a few years use out of this sofa, but won't buy this brand again - the quality is terrible for the price.
