WHEN I APPROACH MY THRASH CAN WITH DIRTY HANDS, I NO LONGER HAVE TO PUSH A BUTTON TO OPEN IT . WITCH I THINK TRANSFERS GERMS FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER! GUEST LOVE NOT HAVING TO TUCH TO THROW ANYTHING AWAY .I SIMPLY LOVE MY THRASH CAN. I KNOW I AM GOING TO BUY ANOTHER IF THIS ONE EVER BREAKS. WELL I WILL TELL YALL HOW LON IT LAST!!!!

This trash can was dented when I received it. The metal is very thin. I like the way it works but would not buy another one.

great looking(though it arrived with a small dent) and very very user friendly. my dogs haven't figured it out yet and hopefully won't. but i love using it

This product looks and proforms well until the cover for the batteries falls off into the garbage and youunintentially through it out and then try to locate someone at the factory and no one answers the phone.

I wanted a stainless trash can with a pedal, but found that any that were in this price range seemed flimsy - like the pedal could bend or snap off after a while. I'm happy with this option. The price was reasonable, the trash can looks good in the kitchen. So far (3 weeks), it works perfectly. It does open unexpectedly if you walk too close to it, but that isn't a problem. Kids love it! Hopefully, they'll use it and not just play with it.

We love this trash can. Seems silly to have an automatic trash can, but it's a great conversation piece and makes cooking go more smoothly---if your hands are full of stuff to throw out, you don't get the lid all dirty by touching it. This trash can has a great design that hides the bag under the rim so you don't see it hanging out the sides. We got the 13 gal rectangular top---it looked small in the photo, but we were pleasantly surprised when it arrived--nice big opening. I would recommend this over the slightly cheaper, smaller models.

A friend bought this infrared touchless trash can and recommended it to us. Bought one for our house and we are completely satisfied with its performance and style.

I've tried other infrared cans, this one is the best. The others were VERY hard to remove the bag from, this one is easy. The only down side is the gear will strip in a couple of years, but nothing lasts forever I guess.

Stainless steel cans at lowe's etc., are priced higher than this and they aren't automatic!I love my canny. I got my friend's 2 yr old to get canny to open by waving to him. He's alway happy to see her and everyone else that visits. He's always opening up to lend a hand. Greatest kitchen friend I've ever had. Still on the original batteries from 2 years ago! I hope he doesn't change with new batteries. Get yourself one you won't be disappointed.

This product is great. I previously owned a round stainless steel one with the foot pedal. Removing the garbage bag was a two person operation, one pulling on the bag the other pulling on the can. With this garbage can I simply pull the garbage bag right out! Easy! I love the automatic lid opening yet I do wish it had a foot pedal for those times you need to use it manually, the lid opens and closes pretty quickly.

Second one which we've purchased, first from overstock. works great from the beginning, extra large capacity, no problems with either one. I would recommend this to anyone whishing to purchase an infrared garbage can.

I love my Infrared Touch less Trash Can. I have received so many excellent comments from family and friends about this unit, I¿m afraid one will take it <smile>. My only disappointment maybe 1) batteries were not included with the unit and I don't recall if that was stated in the description when I placed the order --- therefore it was another 2-days before I could really use the unit.

Since my trash can had to be part of my kitchen decor I started looking at Stainless offerings. I didn't need too big of a one since there is just two of us empty nester. Went to the big box stores did the touch and feel and came home to Overstock. Now I would have bought one with the toe tap but who knew my trash can could sense when I am near and open. It reads my mind, though sometimes I have to tell it not yet. This product is great, looks great and solves my dilema...how to dress up a trash can. Great value, great service from Overstock....again. Go ahead, you know you want it :)

We loved this product for three months - and then it would not work. It would have been wonderful if it had worked. We tried everything, including new batteries, but it just died on us. It looks great and worked great for three months. We lost our money and hope you have a better result.

I love my touchless trash can! But.....I do have a couple of problems. The cover over the battery housing would not snap on tightly right after I got the can, it fell out and.....you guessed it.....it was gone with the first bag of trash taken out. I now have to use duct tape to keep the batteries in place. Now I have had the same problem with the plasting rim that helps hold the bag in place. I suppose it was not on snuggly and has disappeared I assume in my last bag of trash. There is nothing in Overstock.com's description of the trash can to give you the manufacturer. I would like to see if I could purchase replacement parts for this otherwise perfect contraption. Any ideas?

We've had this in our kitchen for about 3 months now and find it incredibly useful, attractive in design, and somewhat of a conversation piece with guests. After looking at big name stores for the step-lid 13-gallon trash can, we found that none had the infrared option like this one did. We decided that we'd give this version a try and we could not be more pleased. It was approx $100 cheaper than it's counterpart step-lid trash can (despite the 20% off coupon), and the rectangular shape allows you to get a lot more in (ie disposable plates for parties, junk-mailers, etc) that would otherwise take up a lot of space in our old round 13g. This comes with a large aluminum can (can see this getting dented if small kids are pounding on it), small rectangular "ring" that you use to hold the trash bag in place, and a lid that holds the battery opporated system. On the lid itself there is an on-off button in the back, an "open" button that if pressed will keep the lid open for longer periods of time, and a "close" button that will reset the system after being kept on "open". It arrived in less than a week without any damage, and took minutes to assemble. I reccomend going out and getting the 4 D batteries before it comes because once it's there, you'll want to start using it right away! We've had many friends and family comment on it's clever design and they always think we spent a fortune on it, but are amazed when we tell them we got it so cheap on Overstock! We also found it to be especially entertaining to people, young and old, as they motion for the lid to open and close. Little kids are very interested in it, so explaining that you have to wave "hi" to it first, sorta helped with the enthusiasm to play with it.

We've only had this can for a couple of weeks but - so far, so good. It is very attractive which was necessary since it would be sitting out in the kitchen. The lid works just fine and we have had no problems.

We bought this automatic trash can back in April last year. It is very practical product in that you don't have to use a foot pedal or your hands to open the lid...it does it automatically. From a humorous prospective, you get an impression the trash can is looking to be fed as soon as the lid opens and if you didn't know better, you could think it might bite you. None of that is true. I purchased rechargeable batteries thinking I'd have to replace regular batteries frequently. So far, I haven't had to charge the batteries. This is a good product that is highly recommended.

I just love this trash can!! Whatever I am doing in the kitchen, this has got to be the best thing I have!! You do not have to touch the garbage can while you are preparing a meal. The mess of preparing your meals is easier as all you have to do, is wave your hand over the garbage can & the lid pops open. You drop your garbage in, the lid closes automatically. Closing the garbage bag is just as easy. This garbage can is oval campared to the round. Seems the oval is easier to remove the garbage. I tried the round one, but, the oval is better.

I was debating between a battery operated lid and a step-on lid for my new trash can. After shopping and comparing prices in stores and online I decided on this product. The price was very fair at Overstock, shipping was reasonable, and it arrived fairly quickly. It was packaged very securely (that's important as stainless cans like this one are very susceptible to denting--if you don't think so, check the ones on display in stores; you will find most of them have dents of some kind.) I expect that if you had kids and animals running around you might have to worry about dents but in this house that's not a problem--we're retired geezers. This can works exactly as represented. It remains to be seen how long the batteries last (it requires four "D" batteries.) All-in-all I'm pleased with both the product and Overstock.
