This fan is so super-fabulous, I can hardly contain my glee. The wood matches my existing mission style furniture perfectly and it is large and looks magnificent on my vaulted ceiling. I did have to purchase a longer downrod to accommodate the angle and to deliver the fan to the exact hanging height that I desired. It is a Hunter, so its operation appears to be flawless. There was very little need to even try and balance the fan blades, despite the existence of the included balancing kit. I had a pro electrician install it, and it only took him an hour (a simple one man job). An incandescent bulb is recommended, for there are interesting dimming functions that the remote affords which would not actually be performed well by a spiral neon eco friendly bulb that so many of us are using these days for energy efficiency and long life. (Trust me, I tried...) This is the only "downfall", if you can even call it that. The incandescent light when dimmed is quite lovely overhead, and the light kit will accommodate a high enough wattage bulb that we could perform surgical procedures in the living room if need be. Fortunately, this will probably not be necessary. Love this fan!
