We have the blades on the white side to keep the area light and casual. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND if you are looking for a new ceiling fan 52" in diameter with 3 candlelight.blubs. This fan has 3 speeds and if I might suggest keeping it on the lowest level for cooling the area. If you are looking for a new ceiling fan consider this one.

Use the optional remote control to turn on the five blades and cool off on a hot day or circulate stagnant air for a fresh feeling anytime. The blades are coated to resist dust build up for easy maintenance. This ceiling fan is made of brass, iron and oak for durability and finished in white to match most room motifs.

    It works. Teh remote is cheap as heck -- like that new cheap off-white plastic coming in from China. It attaches to your wall switch plate, but brings the look of the house down due to its cheapness. We can hear the fan in the master bed. :-(
