The picture doesn't do this fan justice, it's beautiful. The ornate brass is antiqued in a way that keeps it from looking gaudy and it really does have a victorian flair. The brass isn't like the cheaply looking bright shiny brass fixtures you see so often in stores, this one has an antiqued finish that tones it down. The glass the bulb covers are made of is cut in a way that is reminiscent of cut crystal, very decorative as well. It's a very solid, well made, heavy fan, as are all Hunter fans. There are four blades on this instead of five but it produces just as much cool air as a five blade fan does. Overall diameter of the fan is larger than standard 52 inch fans, this one is 56 inches. It produces a nice amount of light from the four bulbs too, not too much and not too little. It's perfect for our 16 x 20 living room with lighted end table lamps. I'm very very happy with my purchase. My husband even likes it and he's incredibly picky.
