This is a solid, sturdy desk. I like the width of it-- I can really spread out all my papers and materials. I agree with a few comments that the paint does scratch a bit so you might want to consider a desk blotter. Also, the drawer height is not that tall, so don't count on storing too much stuff here. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase.

I was looking for a larger home office desk for my laptop, monitor and general office & home stuff. This desk was the perfect choice. The size is excellent without being overly large; but with good capacity. Assembly is a 6 out of 10 for your typical handyman. Parts are high quality, so it assembles correctly - but it will take time and possibly more than 2 hands at time. Be patient the final result should be a solid item.

Other than a brief issue installing the desk drawers, it has been a solid product. I'm content with the purchase.

I am very satisfied with this purchase. I purchased for a home office where the desk would be the primary piece of furniture sitting in the center of the room. While not a hefty executive desk, this piece looks great from all angles and is certainly well suited to be either put against a wall (as pictured) or sat in the center of a room (as I have it in my home office). Construction was very straightforward and not difficult. It took us about 3 hours to put together, but we did pretty casually and made a few mistakes along the way. Directions were good and no parts were missing. Everything arrived undamaged and construction is solid. Finish colors are a walnut and true-to-picture. I liken this to a desk you would purchase at a mid-level home interior/furnishings store already assembled. Such a desk would cost at least $800 delivered assembled. Looking forward to selling it for a profit when (and if) we every move! We assembled with an electric drill but could be done with hand tools. Rubber mallet is not necessary - we used a hammer covered with fabric to cushion when we needed to.

The quality is not so great. This is not a solid bamboo desk. It doesn't matter how durable and strong bamboo is if it is fastened together by plywood and particle board.. The drawer glide was busted when i received it and still have not received the replacement.

Lately, television consoles, stands and storage racks have been exhibiting updated designs, sporting storage for your media essentials in models that are tastefully coordinated to the rest of your living room furniture. Compact TV stands and corner TV stands are convenient in smaller apartments, dorm rooms and offices, but even large homes can benefit from the clean look and discreet presence of a television stand. As more people upgrade to lean flat-panel televisions, they are seeing that the smaller size of a TV stand is all they need. The furniture industry usually reserves the term "entertainment center" for the largest TV furniture, big enough for the television, a cadre of audio or video components and a full CD-DVD collection. TV stands tend to be smaller than full entertainment centers while still having enough shelves for a few components and some media storage. For smaller homes or for smaller rooms in larger homes a stand may be all the TV furniture you need.

After deciding on the purpose and room for your new cabinet, it's time to think about material. As with all furniture, you will want to select a cabinet material depending on what you plan to use your cabinet for, as well as your personal taste. Take a look below to learn about the best materials for cabinets. Wood: The majority of cabinets produced are created with hard wood. Wood cabinets can be found in both traditional and contemporary designs. If you are hoping for durability in addition to design, no cabinet looks better and lasts longer than one manufactured using a solid wood. Cherry cabinets offer a sense of classic luxury while holding up to years of use. Oak cabinets conjure up the feel of subtle country beauty, and maple cabinets can look bright, modern and chic. Metal: Metal cabinets are terrific for those looking for a modern touch in their homes; most metal cabinets have a very forward-looking aesthetic, so they are perfect for a contemporary home. Metal cabinets are also great for home offices. Obviously, metal offers great durability, but it is vulnerable to dings and dents. Keep in mind that most metal cabinets have sharp corners, making them slightly less suitable for homes with kids running around. Glass: If you have something you feel like showing off, nothing is better for display purposes than a glass cabinet. These cabinets are certainly more fragile than those made from other materials, but they offer something other cabinets can't: transparency. Many glass cabinets are manufactured with built-in lighting systems to exhibit whatever you choose to place in them. Because of their show-off quality, glass cabinets are perfect for places you expect guests, such as the dining room and living room. Particle board: If you are shopping for a cabinet on a tight budget, looking into particle board cabinets is worthwhile. Particle board is a relatively new material produced by pressing wood particles together, which is then bound with synthetic resin. Furniture created with particle board is almost always the least expensive option and also the lightest, but you will sacrifice some durability. If you plan to move often, a particle board cabinet could be an ideal option. View All Furniture Back to Guides Directory View All Furniture

Canvas furniture can be casual, sporty or elegant. It is used indoors and outdoors, in the home, the patio and on yachts. Canvas is a fairly durable fabric, but some colors will show dirt easily, and the fabric can mildew. Clean canvas patio furniture twice a season (when bringing it out of storage and before returning it to storage) and other times as needed. Indoor canvas patio furniture may require fewer or more cleanings per year, depending on usage.

Midcentury modern refers to the time period between 1930 and 1965 when designers and architects began focusing on simple yet creative design. It was during this period that famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright experimented with organic architecture, building some of his most well-known homes and using scenery to inspire innovative designs. Some of the most recognizable furniture was also designed during this time period. From the Eames lounge chair to the slender tulip chair, the midcentury movement produced pieces that are still staples in modern homes. To get the midcentury look in your own home, use simple pieces of furniture combined with these essential decorative accessories.
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy. Although most commonly used outside, benches have found a great amount of use inside the home. Not only do they offer additional seating, typically in a compact piece of furniture, but they also offer a great deal of versatility. Benches are great furniture for foyers, letting you sit when you take off or put on your shoes, and some styles will even have shelves to keep your shoes orderly. Benches also add style to bedrooms and living rooms, and storage benches give you a place to store items while keeping them easily accessible.
