Although there were quite a handful of pieces to work with, the instructions were very helpful in constructing the file cabinet. It can be placed in a bedroom or living room like a piece of furniture rather than just an office fixture. With a very nice finish and excellent drawers, I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a very fashionable file cabinet.

After weeks of looking for an extra filing cabinet I found this product. Like most Overstock items it was delivered quickly and with no visual damage. The unit is made from a dense particle board and was very very well packed; no smashed corners or scrapes on the fake-wood. I fancy myself as a bit of a flat-packed furniture assembly savant so with the picture instructions I felt armed and ready to put this together in good time. Remember, I'm experienced and the build still took 1.5 hours to complete so grab a cocktail and put on some tunes, this is not a 20 minute project. Instructions were somewhat lacking by not showing more detailed orientation of the pieces as you put them together. Again, not difficult to figure out if you've done such before but if you're new to flat-box assembly, take your time. The pieces are labeled on the ends with numbers corresponding with the instructions, it's difficult to identify the numbers on the side but thankfully there isn't that many. Once assembled the drawers slide out nicely and aligned when in place. The locking mechinism is nice if you want to keep spare checks or more sensetive materials in the filing drawer below. This unit was perfect for my appliation which was dual purpose providing extra files in a closet not requiring daily access as well as where my printer sits. The low profile in height, width and depth made it perfect for my closet but plenty large enough to hold my HP printer. If needed, the casters allow the unit to be moved around although the casters themselves are plastic and don't slide all that great. I do like that the casters have two locks allowing the unit to stay put when you open/close the drawers. Other notable which was indicated somewhere in the product description but may be missed by some is that the files are not facing you. Rather, they are put in the cabinet sideways so depending on your application that may be annoying. For my closet application, straight forward would have been preferred but was aware of the orinitation before purchase. This unit looks nice and coupled with the small drawer and filing cabinet a great peice for the home office. Perfect dimensions for sliding under & converting the modern writing desk into a work-space too!

When assembling, buyer needs to know that the cam holes in 2 places on both pedestals (left & right) do not align and must be drilled out to make the pieces fit. Files will not go across but sideways in the drawer. Keyboard tray is not wide enough to hold mouse and keyboard so you have to decide where you will position each. This was a biggee for me and had I paid attention to the size of the keyboard drawer, I may not have chosen this desk. But that was my mistake. Given the width of the desk which is the only size my room would accommodate, I should have figured it out and didn't. Product was damaged by UPS but Customer Service was OUTSTANDING and had a new one shipped out the same day. The instructions were missing from the box but we called the manufacturer and they sent a pdf file within minutes so we could proceed with assembly. The smell of the paint is overpowering especially in a small room, but I left the drawers open everynight and after about 2 weeks, it is beginning to dissipate. Overall I was pleased with the product and outstanding customer service. I am happy with my purchase.

I had submitted an order for this desk after mourning over ****** ridiculous shipping rates for an assortment of desk parts I was planning on purchasing (shipping rates SHOULD NOT dwarf the product pricing. Seriously.) I was a bit skeptical of its L-shaped design at first; I wasn't really digging the lack of inner corner curved I was looking forward to in my previously mentioned DIY fail-**** purchase. Regardless, I decided that my nitpicking won't be getting me a spanking brand new desk any sooner, so I hit the "buy" button like my last lifeline. A week after placing the order, the package came in - in all its nearly 100lbs glory! It was well-package, and while I found the amount of styrofoam to be a complete hassle, at least it kept all the parts safe and sound. I was a bit weary of the inch-wide puncture holes that dotted the box itself, but the parts were safe and sound, thankfully. The smaller hardware (screws, allen wrench, intruction etc.) came in a box labeled "hardware," which was a really nice touch. I got tired of dealing with ziplock bags. Assembling the table itself is pretty easy, and the instructions were okay, albeit they could've been a bit clearer, especially for those not used to assembly. I ended up screwing the legs on the table first instead of doing it as suggested in the manual, so I had a bit of a problem attaching the supporting beam that goes across. So, pro-tip for beginners: do not tighten until all screws are fitting in and snug in the inserts, otherwise you're gonna be spending six minutes figuring out how to fit a 50" support beam in between two legs. One could also do without the smaller table, as the main one itself already looks quite good without it, but I decided to attach it anyway and make it my little homework hub since it just kind of works. In the end, I had assembled a fairly sturdy, high quality L-shaped desk that manages to look pretty darn snazzy in my medium-sized bedroom. I was a bit afraid that it wasn't going to hold my two monitors held up on mounts that would have to be clamped at the edge of the desk, but I was reassured once I struggled to get the main tabletop up to my room - thing is HEAVY, but sturdy as heck. The metal legs are appreciated, as well as the provided cable management in the form of two square-cutouts at the far corners. Would definitely buy another just for the sheer quality alone!

I have been looking for a writing desk for my 8 year old son for months as he loves to write and draw and needs a large surface area to do so without all the bells and whistles. This desk is big enough to have many projects going on at once but not so big that it takes over his room. The quality is amazing and looks great without being finished, I will probably order another one for a different room and stain it a dark color. Well to be honest with you this is the best desk I have ever bought that too at an amazing price. I looked around at all major retail store and coudnt find a better deal than this. The icing on the cake was the actual quality of this product and the ease of assembly. I completed the assembly in less than an hour with a battery operated drill with various drive bits, makes the job much faster and easier. Top notch product at am amazing price.
