Bought this book stand (actually two of them) to supplement our storage space for my office in our new home. Unlike shelving units at Staples or Office Depot, these units are open at each end and at the back......and they are stackable. This design takes away from the heaviness of their appearance and does not visually fill up the room. (My wife liked this, and do do I.) There is no assembly required either. Putting them up, therefore, is a snap. (You can put them up as fast as you can unwrap them.) You might get more stylish book shelves at Crate and Barrel, but at a much higher price. And the price advantage more than offsets any perceived style advantage. (There is not that much difference.) A good buy!

I was looking for shelving to go with a cube hutch for my craft books and odds and ends. The color matches the cube hutch perfectly and I love that there is a top shelf plus divided cubes for my books. The only criticism my husband had is it isn't wood - he is a wood snob - but I am very pleased with it. It works well for what I wanted and I thought the price was reasonable.

Very easy to set up, folks! Was I ever amazed! I do wish they sold a top shelf for it. I don't need to stack them, just needed one bookcase. The top looks funny with no top shelf, but since it's upstairs in my craft / sewing room, it'll be alright. I filled it with hardback books, will let you know if the selves start sagging in a few months!

There's not much not to like about these shelves. Solid wood (not the particleboard stuff), no assembly required, folds flat. They are sturdy, as long as you're not putting a TV on it or something like that. For everyday items, books, etc they're fine. I have my shelved near a sofa and have an iPod player near a sofa arm, it makes it just the right height for adjusting the player.

I've use the natural colored version of these before and liked them. This time we decided to use them in a new home office mainly due to the fact that they're sturdy but lightweight and easy to get up our stairs. At the moment they're both stacked, full of hard-bound books, and don't show even a bit of sagging after three weeks. One thing I would suggest it connecting the backs together with a two-inch, screw in metal strap of the kind you can buy at a hardware or home center. While not required it gives me a little more assurance that our cats can't climb on them and pull the top unit down. I also wish they offered a matching top shelf-- or 'cap'-- for these as it would be a nice place to put a few knick knacks. In short, they're well worth the money if you need functionality and reasonably good looks as opposed to a furniture quality bookcase.

I was looking for a lightweight contemporary bookcase or shelf to go with the Graffitti design 100% carpet from Momeni Inc. that I also bought on Overstock.com. I just assembled this bookcase myself today. Shelf arrived about 4-5 days after ordered, well packed. Included hardware was separated into numbered sealed bags, with # of screws/bolts etc. noted, and when an extra included also noted. Instructions all by pictures were very easy to follow. Allen wrench included, standard household size phillips head screwdriver only thing needed for assembly that was not included. Color is as pictured except shelves are stained darker around the edges, like aged oak. I put very heavy books on bottom shelf and filled middle two shelves with assorted hardcover & paperbacks. I don't plan on moving the shelf around. So far, so good. It might be a little too lightweight for just objets d'arte, which I plan on putting on top shelf.

I bought the desk and computer stand together. They are very nice quality and very beautiful color. The size is perfect. My husband use it a lot. He likes the heights and feel comfortable when he writes things in his computer. The only thing I am not satisfied is that why don't they carry the same book shelf on the picture in store? I have to good the shelf and bought it from some place. But the shelf itself is not as good as the computer desk. It's very small and short. Not as big as it showed on the picture. Maybe that is the reason overstock doesn't carry it?

I am a teacher and bought this laptop cart to use as a portable podium, since it has wheels and various hieghts. It has definitely proven its usefulness for my needs! I am able to roll it around the room, because I do not stay in the exact spot all the time. And I can even stand or sit at it if I lower the hieght. Another good thing is that it has a shelf at the bottom for my books and a small shelf for pens or small things. It's also a plus that it does not take up too much room.

Everything is good but the strong chemical smell. I have opened it for almost 1 month, but the smell has not all gone. I bought different furniture from overstock, chairs, night stands, book shelf. Only this item has strong chemical smell. I believe the smell is not good for health. But the handyman helping me to assemble the desk said he didn't smell anything. I have to say it depends on your standard. If you prepare to have a baby, don't take this one.

PROS: The quality of the packaging was great. The instructions were almost great, but if you are familiar with flat-pack furniture, you will be able to get through it with no problems within a couple hours. All the pieces and hardware were there. The unit is solid and sturdy and the color was accurate (I bought the Espresso version). CONS: The unit was smaller than I expected, but that's because I'm a bad judge of measurements. There wasn't enough glue in the tube to glue all the dowels, even when using just a drop for each dowel. My only real complain is in the adjustable shelving. The unit was designed for six storage areas. If you are like me and want to use it for books, there are no drilled holes to mount the shelves in the middle to create four equal storage areas. If you are handy (and very careful), you might want to drill extra holes prior to assembling the unit to ensure you can place the shelves where you desire.

What we liked: the ability to adjust the desk top, the slim profile, the small shelf for priority desk items What we didn't like: it's a little flimsy unless you have books in the bottom, there isn't a good option for cord management if you're using it in a public setting--we had to drill a hole in it to thread the cords through, and the way you adjust the desk top isn't particularly elegant--you're just adjusting the screws and manually raising or lowering the top--I'm a little concerned that it won't hold up over time, and it would be nice if you could raise and lower the top with 1 hand. Overall, this is the besk rolling laptop stand we've found for public areas, but I'm still on the look out for something more substantial and that will last with lots of use.

I only have one thing to say about the one part of desk didn't like- the keyboard tray was difficult to screw in the sliders.....as some holes were off of the specific spot they needed to be in to attach screws in board to make it stay put. It took me over an hour to attach the underscrews thru the board. They didnt fit in! I think just this one had this problem. Otherwise it wasn't hard at all doing it myself. the sliding tray is very useful....it can hold alot of tapes, or paper for printing, or can hold 1 copier- or even put that modem on it! draw holds your pens, pencils; notepads, etc. Won't hold big fat book! not for that. upper shelf: I put 19" monitor on it...had pod feet. big bezel around it and fit just fine. The desk top was big enough for that monitor and u could probably put a larger one on top too.........but it would take up most of that space. lower computer shelf was long enough for my large case comp! was almost 20''in depth....it stuck out maybe an inch...takes 18, 19" cases.(up to) Don't know or remember exact dimensions although have the manual somewhere. I sold the desk this year to friend. Had it almost 4 years or more. stood up to having 2 computers on it at one time.Yup, did...one on desktop, other below. It held up rather nicely! If yu want compact, yu got it!! space saver....and takes wear and tear very well. spills wipe off.Damp cloth is best, no detergents needed. But don't condone your using a glass on top.....use bottle with cap! and not near your computer!! It could blow your motherboard and rest of machine! Word!! It works well, buy it.

The construction is sensible. The fit and finish of the parts is excellent. All parts labeled with stick on letters and they match the workbook drawings. Ignore the numbered parts on the outside of the box. They do not match the book. LOL Very well packaged too. The drawings in the manual are good. Use a magnifying glass on some photos as there could be a left-right issue. Really look at the details of the drawings. Hold the part next to the drawing and make sure the orientation is right. Even if you think you know! Do not put wood dowels in both parts of the drawer . Only one side. Luckily I got mine out before the glue dried. There is not enough glue. Get more glue. With the Superglue you can go to your local hobby shop and get a 5-15 second version Cyancryolate that is thicker to take up gaps. Do not let children or pets get near that glue. If you really want to be safe use yellow wood glue or better yet use PL premium construction adhesive and apply it sparingly with a popcicle stick. Wipe off the excess with a damp cloth. Use a dry cloth or paper towel for the PL premium glue. I glued all of the leg structure with PL premium glue on all of the joints but I did not use glue on the top surface in case I ever wanted to move the table easily. I just use the cam locks to detach the top of the table. Make sure to use all of the screws because they all are important. One thing I changed is the tracks on the bottom of the drawers. Don't put the screws that hold on the tracks of the drawers from the bottom as shown. The provided screws have no holding strength at all and will crack the composite. Put the two screws in the side of the track in the holes with the angled edge so the screw fits flush. I put together all the parts on a folding card table. Do not try to just sit on the floor to build this table. It will be a much harder job. (polite description) LOL I am 65, artist and former jet engine mechanic. When you are starting to assemble the leg structure, and you are ready to add the second end piece, ( PART C) carefully sit the entire structure on the floor and then finish that last part while standing up to do the work.

I liked the bookcase, so I ordered a second one to stack. The first had some scratches so it was price adjusted. I had problems making the two attached.Kept them, placed a wedge on front to make sure it would not fall forward

Arrived promptly well packages. Easy to assemble. Holds dozens of books. Going to search for a mantle since I am not stacking another case on top.
