If you are considering this desk you have to accept that it's a ~$100 desk. It looks stylish and we've had it for about a week now. The desk arrived very neatly packed, however, we were missing 4 bolts and one of the glass tops had a small scratch (the glass tops are tempered which is good to know). The website for Altra Furniture is unwieldly and submitting a request for missing parts via their website is impossible. Also, I tried calling their customer service once but had to hang up after being on hold for 20 minutes. Once I finally got through to them they quickly took note of the missing and damaged parts and sent replacements promptly with no fuss whatsoever. Big plus in my book for that. The desk is not deep at all. Note the dimensions. Also each desk can take a maximum of 60 lbs and the bridge piece 30 lbs. I'm happy with this desk. We're outfitting a new home office and it looks great it in. I'm typing up this review on my laptop on it. It shakes slightly as a I type. All in all great value for what we paid. My wife, who criticizes my taste in furniture & that I prefer what is cheap vs what is attractive noted how nice the desk looked as well.

This bookcase/desk is a very handsome piece of furniture and does not take as much space as a regular desk.

Hard to beat for the price! Cute little stool with bright teal legs, easy to assemble and all parts were included. Not sure how comfortable it would be for a bench, however it is great for a printer stand!

Cheap materials and a lot of parts came broken so I had to re-order. They sent me the whole box again and I had to ship back the rest of the parts. It came in a broken box and the parts were all poorly packed in there and all the foam was broken. It took so many days to build it and the doors on top do not sit properly..

I have bought a lot of furniture through overstock.com and have up to now been very pleased with my purchases. However I have never purchased this brand before and never will again! From unpacking to assembly, I have nothing good to say about this armoire. The packing material was tiny pieces of foam that apparently had once been foam sheeting. It went everywhere and stuck to everything. The instruction was only pictures and nothing written to go by. there were many damaged parts and the laminate that was supposed to resemble wood was paper thin! All in all a very disappointing and irritating experience!

Has a great a clean look to any space. Two individuals needed to assemble and or lift it upright into position. I am very Impressed with the Quality and would love to purchase a second piece later on.

The original shipment was for the wrong item. Overstock made the exchange simple and fast. The desk itself is functional, but poor quality materials. While it is quick to assemble and has some unique features, it is hardly something I'll have for very long. The edges of the finish look like they will easily peel due to the paper on particle board construction.

worst packaging ever. box weighs about 200 pounds and its all in one box. should be packaged in two boxes. the little plastic screws break easily if over tightened. the end result was fine, but could be much better and installer friendly

The product (table) arrived quickly and undamaged. However, thats where the positive marks ended. The quality of the desk was poor and the wood used was compressed particle board. The size was perfect for my son's room but the desk will not last half a school year. The metal guide that holds the drawer is poor quality and does not open/close smoothly. The desk's legs do not sit level. I put a piece of scotch tape on the table to hold a piece of paper. Upon removing the paper (and tape), the tape took off the black paint from the desk. Whats up with that? Pass on this item. I would have shipped it back but the box was tossed out and it would have cost more to re-box it and ship it back.

This is the second piece that I have purchased that was manufactured by Altra. In dealing with both pieces, there was a lot of hidden damage. With this particular piece, under the desk top, where the drawer slides are attached, there are two pieces that have cracks throughout. They seem to be sturdily fastened but I am hopeful that once I really start to use the desk, stress wont cause further damage. Since this is the underside I have chosen to keep the product and keep my fingers crossed. Additionally, while assembling, one of the side panels apparently had a hole drilled to deeply. While attaching to another piece a larger chip splintered off. I did call the company and the piece was replaced promptly. I love the way that the piece looks and the double duty it performs. In receiving and assembling the first product purchased : Hollow Core Coffee Table/ TV Stand, the product had several deep gouges on the panels, this was not damage due to shipping but existing damage. I did also opt to keep the product because the gouges are on the underside, however, I wish quality control would have been more thorough. Overall I doubt that I would purchase another piece from this manufacturer due to the quality issues.

It's been weeks since I received this desk. It comes in a heavy 70+ lb box. When you open the box the desk comes in hundreds of pieces. As I start to make my way through the instructions of assembly, first step and I realized the hole has been mis-drilled. I started to move on past that point to find 3 other parts damaged and broken. So, fine... you can go on the ALTRA website and re-order the parts for free. So, I did that and waited another week for the extra parts. I receive the parts and the SAME part came MIS-DRILLED and another part came broken again! I am so absolutely frustrated with this desk. I've spent 3+ hours already trying to put the rest of it together while all the other pieces sit around my house waiting for the new parts. The directions are hard to follow and if I hadn't already thrown away the box and used some of the parts I would RETURN this. I am currently in deep job hunting mode and desperately need a desk to work from and this has been the worst experience ever.

I was interested in getting a new desk for a computer that I was building. I've seen a couple of other similar glass/metal desks on Overstock, but this one is a massively great value for $***. When it arrived (pretty fast shipping too: three or four days delivery!), It was in good condition and nothing on the outside box was dented. I opened it up and took the pieces out, and everything was in perfect shape. Altra took the time to bubblewrap all the rods and encase the glass pieces in styrofoam, cardboard, and bubblewrap, great enhancing the safety factor. I took a few days to build it, but that was my fault, and this can be done in a few hours. The rods are named with letters as to point out which one faces which way, etc., a very helpful tool. The build itself was quite easy and pretty fun. Just be sure that if you build it away from its destination that you make sure you can carry it into; I had to take it apart a bit to carry it into a room. I've had the desk for about two weeks and it has been splendid. Things look nice on it, it fits into a corner of my room perfectly, and it feels very solid. the design is simple, but it's quite striking, really. There are a few cons though, but nothing out of the ordinary. The biggest problem I have with it is that it is a big fingerprint attracter. It's not too horrible, just clean it once a week or so and it should be fine. Glass desks in general attract fingerprints, but its a con for all glass desks in general, not just this one. In conclusion, I really like this desk and would suggest it in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a glass/metal desk. If you're using it for a computer, you can take out the curved rod in the corner of the desk to store your tower, and if you're not, it's still a great desk for anything else. Great value, and I am very pleased with the desk so far. Let's see how it fares for the next few years.
