This cabinet surprised me in how well it was engineered. Everything lined up perfectly, all of the parts were included and well marked, and the instructions were easy to follow. Do yourself a favor and use a drill for putting in the screws. There are about 30 on the back panel alone. One of the feet was cracked, but I wasn't planning on using them anyway. The cabinet looks fine without them. I did anchor it to the wall by drilling through the frame that supports the drawers and screwing it to a stud. Without anchoring it is a bit wobbly when sitting on carpet. But one screw made it rock solid. I wouldn't use the two brackets it comes with to anchor it -- they would show. I put this in a very small powder room to hold toilet paper and cleaning supplies. It's perfect for that. It will hold 6 double-sized rolls of toilet paper on each shelf. I will be spraying the glass to frost it. The glass is held in with caulking, not with clips, so you have to spray it in place, or cut the caulking to remove it. The glass is tempered, which is important when a cabinet is near floor level. Overall, I am very please with this purchase. I gave it a "good" and not "excellent" because of the cracked foot, but I'm sure I could have gotten a replacement for it if I wanted. I also downrated it a tad because it's made of pressboard, so not of the highest quality. But for the price, it's well worth it.
This is a great little piece but I must say I found it very time consuing to put together (3 hours or more). Worth it when all is said and done and after a night's rest (it got to me -- all those little screws!!). It arrived in great shape with the exception of a small ding on the side I didn't see until I was just about done. I am sure they would send me a replacement piece (overstock.com is REALLY great about that) but do I want to spend even more time taking it apart and putting it back together? EGH!
Exactly as described. Perfect for a very narrow hallway, being used for towel and bath storage next to a tiny bathroom. For a prepack piece, this is great quality. I put it together by myself in about 45 minutes. I plan on buying decorative knobs to make it even better, but couldn't be happier with this piece, and know it will be flexible for when I move as well.
I searched for a piece of furniture that would fit in a narrow space in my basement bathroom. This hutch at 9" deep fit perfectly. It did take a couple of hours to put together, but that was partly due to the fact that the there were so many little screws! I have put together many bookcases, chairs, cabinets and tables. This was by far the most well-made quality piece I've ever assembled - and it looks great!
This cabinet is perfect for the small, narrow space behind my front door. It looks like it is more expensive than it is. I read that some people had to attach it to the wall for stability. I didn't have this problem -- it is solid as a rock on my wood floor. However, if you have that concern, the materials to attach it to a wall are included. The white was too bright for the my hallway so my husband painted it a grayish-blue for me. However, my husband was a professional painter for 30 years, so I don't know how it would have looked if I had done it by myself. I'm only saying that so you know it is paint-able.
I am so glad that your selection is comprehensive enough to include the color, style and size that I need in my small kitchen corner space... it is perfect!
I needed a shallow cabinet to store some liquors for my hall area. All the other bar, cabinets, or bakers rack were too deep, so I kept looking for the right piece. Then I noticed the hutch on O, and eyed the hutch for weeks and read all the posted reviews. Few comments concerned me - the weight load, the door, the stability with the heavy doors. I eventually decided to take the plunge and get the cabinet, intending to use the hutch in one of my power rooms if it doesn't work out as a bar. Assembling the product was a bit involved, but nothing too unusual compared to other furniture I've assembled over the years. The product is actually well manufactured, but the instructions could be a lot better. For the top and the bottom pieces, make sure not to tighten the Cam Pins too tight, or the pins won't be grabbed by the Cam bolts to hold the furniture pieces together with stability. I had to loosen the cam bolts several times to make sure all the bolts got locked in, and one bolt broke during the process. There were little nicks on furniture surface that I patched with painters putty. However, once I was done, I was able to remove one of the adjustable shelf piece and store all my liquors -14 full sized tall liquors (Stolichnaya, Tanqueray Ten, etc)- at the bottom, and around 16 shorter bottles (such as Hendricks Gin, or Bulleit Rye) on the upper shelf. With the heavy bottles in, the cabinet has no problem when opening the heavy doors and it is VERY stable. I was actually shocked at how much content the little cute cabinet holds. Even my husband commented that he likes it, because it is shallow and doesn't get in the way. This is one of the best purchase I've made in a long while, and I highly recommend to others especially at the price.
We needed a small cabinet for a small space and this fit the bill perfectly. It was a little tricky to assemble but once it was together, we were very pleased with it. The only thing we wished it had was opaque glass so the contents couldn't be seen, but we solved that by purchasing contact paper that looked like frosted glass.
I needed a narrow piece of furniture for a small hallway. This at 9" deep was just what I needed. The hutch fits perfectly in the space. The details in this little hutch make a much bigger impact than expected for such a small piece of furniture. As always, purchasing on Overstock was easy and the item arrived in just a few days. I assembled mostly myself over a few days with the tools provided in box and (as indicated in the directions) a Philips head screwdriver. I had trouble getting the top attached and finally had to call in another pair of hands to help me troubleshoot. The problem was the locking bolt and cam shaft for one of the six for the top. Once that was sorted out, I was able to finish the rest myself. Pre-drilling holes for the backing is something others might want to do - I was able to get the small screws to attach without a drill - but it required a lot of pressure and there are a lot of little screws... Getting the doors on with only one pair of hands was challenging - but if I can do it with just my $1 ace screwdriver - anyone can do this (but two pair of hands, a drill, and a power screwdriver would make this go a lot faster!) Wish I could upload a photo - I am quite proud of how nice this looks in my hallway. Now I am off to Christmas Tree Shop to find baskets to fit so I can store my odds and ends while still having everything look pretty thru the glass doors.
I would not recommend this hutch. It was extremely difficult to put together but the biggest problem is that the doors are much heavier than the rest of the hutch and it needs to be anchored to the wall. If we hadn't spent so much time putting the thing together we would have sent it back. You can only put 30 lbs in the hutch and that was not communicated in the description of the product.
