Great product. We use our's to get rid of moles. They dislike the vibration the windmill creates. No chemicals, no mess. The moles just leave. A great way to do no harm to the animal and keep you lawn looking great. The windmills are not my idea of a great decoration. However, for people who find them eye pleasing these are very nice and authentic looking. We keep our in the area until the moles leave and then move them. So far no return of moles. Just FYI.
Directions were not detailed and somewhat hard to follow. I wish that the cross bracing was sturdier. Overall it is a good looking windmill.
The process for ordering was smooth and the delivery and tracking were excellent, delivered very quickly and in perfect condition. This was a present so cannot comment on actual product, however the overall experience of buying from Overstock was excellent
My husband absolutely loves this item! As others have said, the instructions are a little vague, but there are diagrams and once you figure it out, it's not hard.
I'm rating the quality and value of the product, not the instructions. The quality is very good. Soon after construction the far western suburbs of Chicago had a very bad wind storm. Winds in our area gusted to over 60mph. I had just installed the ground anchors for the windmill and, while it was spinning extremely fast and wanted to tilt over, it stayed put. There are *a lot* of parts and the instructions are on one sheet and are not terribly clear. While I was building it I left most of the screws loose until I got all parts installed. I then straightened it and tightened all the hardware. It's just like a giant erector set. Once everything was tightened it was quite rigid. This item compares well to units costing nearly twice as much (actually I think it's the same item!)
I ordered this windmill as a replacement for a garden windmill that was recently damaged by weather. All was well and because of previous experience assembling a similar item, the existing plans were sufficient. Unfortunately, four of the required sixteen braces were missing from the box of parts. No where could I find any address, telephone number, website etc to contact the manufacturer or distributor in the US. Luckily. I had parts from the previously owned windmill and used those parts to complete the windmill. Which now operates and looks great.
Better ;than most products made in China. As previously noted in other reviews, the instructions leave much to figure out for yourself. My only issue was one of the legs was the wrong piece and I had to drill new holes to make it work. Also not a very good anchoring system which we need in So Florida. Again I had to devise a retrofit. I recommend spraying a clear sealer over the fasteners as they are not stainless and would be subject to rust. Overall it is a great looking and sturdy windmill. Well worth the $$.
This is one nice windmill, very sturdy. The directions are poor, but was easy to figure out. Main thing to do is, put all parts out in groups before you start. Also use the pic on the box to follow along with the directions. It took me 2 hr to build, taking my time to do it right. So far everyone that has seen it, loves it . I hope it drives them moles off, like the reviewer said in here, lol.
This windmill is just what I wanted. It is heavy duty, great quality. The windmill spins with the slightest breeze. The directions are vague, once I figured out the leg pieces everything went together fine. Very happy with my purchase.
great product but the assembly instructions could be a little better as there are lots of parts.
nice traditional farm atmosphere added by this purchase, hubby likes it! only 2 small issues, was very squeaky at first so more grease seems to have helped and no instructions on how to attach the 4 stakes to help stabilize it.
I bought this windmill for my mother for Christmas. My boyfriend and I set it up in just a few hours. The instructions were not very clear, but it wasn't too hard to figure out. My mom is very pleased and the windmill looks nice in my parents backyard.
I purchased this windmill for my father who has always wanted one. This windmill is made of heavy duty coated steel. Myself and my father were able to put this windmill together in under 1 hour (but I should mention the instructions are a simple one page picture). The blades do turn even in the slightest breeze as indicated in the description. Overall, if your looking for a backyard windmill, this is it.
Our new yard windmill looks so nice in our yard. Easy to put together and sturdy, we had it out in the yard the first day. We live on a hill in the country and it fits in perfect. The same day we put it out we had high winds, and the little windmill held firm, turning and rotating with the winds. We love it!
Although it was a little tricky to assemble, it was well worth the work. This looks great in the garden and is a solid windmill. Works great too!
We were surprised at the excellent quality of this product. It looks great and works quite nicely. We always know which way the wind is blowing-It is a fun addition to our backyard.
ONLY complaint was the instructions for assembly - - NO instructions, just pictures..
This arrives is many pieces but with a little patience the finished product is worth it.
I love this windmill in the center of my garden. The ONLY thing needed is better directions on how to put the thing together.
My wife grew up on a Wisconsin farm with a large windmill right outside her bedroom window. We saw one of these small 8' windmills in a friend's backyard and decided we had to get our own. It arrived quickly and was fairly simple to put together and setup.Considering that we've only had the windmill for a short time it's difficult to rate its durability but it's soundly built and I expect it to last for many years. My overall rating for this windmill is Excellent.
