Customer Reviews
The Wind Mill is very heavy duty and madeof good material. The only problem is that the instructions are not very clear or have much detail.
We are very pleased with the Green and Yellow windmill we purchased from you, it is of a good quality and was relatively easy to put together took us about an hour. Directions could be a little more detailed but still worth the money!
Product was delivered without any damages, easy to put together. Windmill blades have great bearings which allows movement with minimal wind. Looks great in yard. Overall we enjoy the product.
I'm a more than average handyman, this windmill was a challenge. First of all, the box arrived with a torn corner which resulted in missing parts, 13 braces in fact, were not there. So it was two weeks before I got replacement parts. The many screws and braces took well over an hour and a half to assemble. No one uses slotted screws and square nuts anymore, but that's what came with it, making the screw tightening more difficult. After three weeks of waiting and assembling, it now sits in the garden. Pretty, but not very functional. The zerk grease fitting is non-standard...metric?...so my grease gun is worthless. Had to shove grease in with my fingers. Now with both shafts well greased, it hasn't spun yet in light winds. I guess I have to have winds over 10-15 mph to make it move. This was a difficult project, the assembly was most challenging, but the price was good in relation to others online. I think once it starts spinning I will be happier.
I just spent a fun hour or so putting together and "installing" my new John Deere Green Windmill in my back yard, and wow is it great! Those who commented above re. difficult assembly or instructions must be really, really mechanically non-functional--it was simple, easy diagrammatic stuff and as long as you take your time and follow things in order, you'll figure it out. A power drill/driver helps to tighten the little machine screws and nuts as does a needle-nose pliers to hold the nuts with so they torque tight. Quick and easy though, and really good, strong construction and paint quality. I took the tip of somebody else here and got some cheap Deere logo decals/stickers to adorn it with, but those who are more Massey-Ferguson/CaseIH types can buy the silver with red trim version also here on Overstock. A great value, an impressive garden adornement, and the perfect gift for anyone with a back-yard veggie garden or green thumb. I love it!
