  • Hello mrspratka, here is the information I was able to obtain from the manual. When choosing a location for your new heater, ensure that the general instructions are followed. Also, for best effect, install the heater out of direct sunlight. Cold climate installation recommendation: when installing this unit against a non-insulated exterior wall or chase, it is mandatory that the outer walls be insulated to conform to applicable insulation codes. Keep electrical cords, drapery, furniture and other combustibles at least 3 feet (0.6 m) from the front of the heater and away from the sides. The cord is approximately 2 feet long. I was able to find the manual by googleing "HS-1000-WX Manual" I hope this helps. Have a great day!

  • Hello janedough, this cord is approximately 3 feet long, we recommend this to be put over a outlet so you can plug it in and hide the cord in the back. Have a good day!

• The details state that it heats up to a 6,000 square foot area, is this correct. In other questions I see people asking if it will heat a 600 square foot area?? We need it to heat a 1000 square foot basement. Is there a fan component to this? thank you Kristine

• After reading spurthigh's Jan. 1 2014's answer to hollerback2me about mounting heater in a bathroom; (1) Am I to understand this heater would not be recommended in a full bath? (2) If it could be placed in a bathroom, I would like to place it higher up on a wall, (approx. 6'), would this be a problem?

• We have a 800 sqf cabin in the woods as a get away place. There is no heat other than space heaters. Since this unit has a thermostat I can put it on at let's say 69 and it will go off and on as needed right??? And do you think it is trustworthy to leave it on all winter. Because we are only there every couple of weeks. Please let me no. Thank you

• Considering using this for a 700 sq ft room well insulated inside walls. Needing to heat up fast and maintain a 92 temperature for 1 1/2 hrs. How many do you recommend? Would having more take less time to heat up the room?

• I have a half-bath room with no heat vent. In the winter the half-bath is frigid at times. I have a wall with an electrical outlet in the half-bath. Can I install this infrared heater in my half-bath?

  • Greetings hollaback2me ~ since a half-bath normally does not include tub/shower which would tend to create condensation + moist evironment for this heater. . .you should be well & fine using as described. I would only recommend, a minimum 3" - 5" placement above floor level when positioning heater on wall. You want to avoid direct heat contact w/ any shaggy floor rugs, trash cans w/ plastic bags as liners, etc. Depending on size of your bathroom too, you may not even require higher settings on this unit. 1000 watt heater will certainly heat an average size bathroom....minus any outside holes in the wall. You may need to keep bathroon door ajar just a bit, so as to allow some amount of air circulation....being a small enclosed space. Lastly, rain blowing in thru window (if any) above heater would be bad. Avoid using extension cord w/ heater as well !

  • tonyd48~ on second thought.....a simple programable timer may not benefit your needs. Unit here is digital + remote controlled vs mechanical. Programable timer certainly would shut off operation of heater. But wanting to use timer to initiate heater operation -- a manual action on the remote (by you) may still be necessary in order to turn heating function itself on. Digital unit here would have power when timer engages, but heater probably totally resets after power interruption I imagine. Same as unplugging cord & plugging back in again later. My apologies, Im so used to my personal mechanical dial quartz heater which automatically resumes normal operation when electrical power is restored if left plugged in.

  • Greetings kpmom13 ~ Although 600 sq. ft. is still 600 sq. feet regardless, you do have quite a bit of open ceiling space/height above you. Taking into consideration the fact heat naturally rises, appliance here may not produce enough BTU's -&- may also cause unit to become overworked (switching on & off) trying to maintain a selected temperature....especially when it has yet to get colder in Jan + Feb ? Other factors, such as how well sealed & insulated room is from entering drafts + cold spots ? Also, does specified area recieve additional benefit from any cental heating as well ? Remember, infrared type heating warms & heats Objects first which in turn warms surrounding air. Listed incuded fan on appliance will aid = better air circulation. Sorry I can't give you a definitive yes or no here, sorta impossible to know for sure without physically using & trying out. Hope I provided helpful info. . . .Happy Holidays !

  • Greetings artspiritus ~ looking at image shown, not easy to tell if unit would freestand on its own ? Assuming it did, personally not convinced placing heater directly on a carpeted floor area is a swift idea. Notice, quartz heating rods/tubes are located near bottom edge portion of unit -- might be a fire hazzard waiting to happen if used in the manner you described. Intense heat from unit, would then primarily be projected & concentrated very close to floor level = quickly drying out & possibly ignighting carpet fibers @ some point. Also beneficial if heater has some air circulation around unit for optimum performance. Possible alternative, mount heater (4" or higher) on 1/4" - 1/2" sheet of plywood or other material & devise your own makeshift vertical stand....which would also allow portable movement around the home. Just a helpful suggestion. . . .stay safe !

  • Greetings anniepannie 123 ~ I am also considering this wall heater as possible option vs my portable, floor room heater. I have not purchased this item as of yet so I can't give installation specifics. However I can positively tell you, according to its 1000 watt rating, this particular heater only requires simple plug-in & electrical consumption from a standard (US) 110/120 VAC household wall outlet. No worries about professional installation in that dept....greater 220/240 VAC not needed here. Last I was aware, 1500 watts is max wattage permitted (law/code) by a heating appliance for residential = 110/120 VAC. I personally would plug heater alone/by itself into outlet & nothing else, except maybe a low draw device such as an alarm clock. Also, better if you can avoid using extension cord w/ heater. Can't imagine securing heater to wall involves much effort over 15-30 mins. . . .Happy Holidays !

  • Hello spurthigh, The heating elements in this unit are quartz. • The heat settings are adjustable; you can set the desired temperature with a digital thermostat. • Filters need to be cleaned (vacuumed) regularly, but that’s it. The filters, if cleaned regularly, should last the life of the heater. Have a great day!
