Rug is nice and thick. It has ribbon(?)-like material used for the stars. We weren't expecting that but it was a nice surprise.
We were very surprised and pleased with this rug. The "bursts" are...how to describe?? Thick, silky yarn woven into the rug to create an "above-the-rug" design. I wasn't able to tell this from the picture, and I imagine one could be disappointed by it, but I love it. More of an artistic piece than a rug! I wish the larger one wasn't sooo expensive.
I bought the 8x10 first and was so impressed with the quality that I immediately purchased the 6x6 for the adjoining room. The rugs are thick and plush with the pattern is a raised pattern. Its bright and sort of shiny and fun to walk on. I get "it looks like fireworks" and "it looks like chrysanthemums" a lot but it adds just the right amount of color to my neutral room,
The rug looks amazing & is thicker than I had expected. The only problem I've encountered is that my dog likes to pull the colored starburst threads out (he's almost completely broken from doing this). The colored threads won't pull out easily (I have tugged on them a bit to test it out), so it appears to be pretty tough (just not puppy proof).
