We love this rug and it is everything we wanted. We knew it would easily collect dog hair (which it does) but nothing that you can't shake out. We also have a little one starting to crawl. He loves it too except that he can easily pull out the leather strips. We just thought they would be a little bit more secure. Overall though, we still love it and would buy it again as it is what we wanted.

Please tell us about the quality of the product. Great, however pieces of leather can easily be pulled by little kiddos

The product was what I had anticipated. Some of the leather strips are falling off, but I had read from other reviewers that it was happening to theirs as well. I like the look of it, but my son and husband don't like the feel of it on their feet. Personally, the feel does not bother me. I think for the money, it is a good buy. It is not the best quality, but the price is reasonable.

I held my breath when I ordered this rug. It is hard to get the full picture from the online description. I was careful to unwrap it in case I was going to return it. Once out and rolled out flat I was blown away! It is seriously cool! Also very soft to walk on in bare feet. I actually laid down on it - just the right amount of give. Super comfortable, fabulous look - and yes has that leather smell. But I like that! I highly recommend this rug!

The rug was nice, but very masculine. The smell of leather was extremly overwelming. After being the house for less than 2 hours the whole house smelled of leather. Not the leather of new shoes or a fine purse, but a chemical lether smell. Great quality and color just an overwelming smell.

The rug is beautiful. The rug has various shades of brown and gold. It did not have a strong leather smell. I read the reviews so I was expecting to lose some of the pieces but I have had the rug for over a week and so far experienced any shedding.

aie from it not being the easiest to shake and you can not vacuum...
natural, artistry and everyone loves it. a friend just requested the link he said the rugs he have been looking for have been **** he could not believe you can find something for that price that looked that good.
Overall I am cautiously happy with this item. It's exactly what I thought it would be from the pictures. The down sides are: It's a bunch of pieces piece of treated leather. As a result, I needed to air out the room for a few days after arrival. Not a bad smell, just significant. Had I known, I would have probably let it sit outside for a few days first to avoid this issue. Additionally, I keep having to pick up pieces of leather to throw away. All rugs require some settling and I think that since the pieces are pretty large it's more noticeable, Hopefully, this is temporary and it'll settle down soon. Finally, I'm still trying to figure out how to clean the darned thing. I think I'll go 'old school' and hang it over a fence and beat it from time to time.
As long as the pieces of leather stop coming off sooner rather than later, I'm pretty satisfied with this purchase. It's attractive and unique.
The rug arrived quickly. I'm still torn about my overall impression of the rug. It's definitely not practical for a moderate to high traffic area. People will trip on the hanging pieces of leather. I had a holiday party and had to tell guests to be careful after a few of them tripped while walking on the rug. I've also started a small collection of pieces that have come apart from the rug. Let's see how large my collection gets! A friend nicely suggested that I display the rug on a wall rather than keep it on the floor. Interesting idea, except that Im concerned that gravity will allow for several more pieces to escape and land haphazardly on the staircase. There is definitely a strong leather smell that dissipates over time. Wanted something different, this wasn't it. The rug is nice to look at, but not practical at all.
Answer from Ask.com
A leather shag rug is a rug that has leather strips that have been tucked and clustered into a sturdy backing made of cotton. This method of rug-making creates a leather shag that is thick and cushiony under your feet.
A leather shag rug is also delicate, however, and it should be noted that, to keep it clean and add to its longevity, it should be strategically placed so it is not in a high-traffic area inside a home.
Leather Shag Rug Cleaning Do's
The best option is to have your leather shag rug dry cleaned. If you cannot have the rug dry cleaned, you will need to vacuum the rug with an upholstery attachment. The final option, if it is small enough, is simply to shake the rug out in an outdoor area.
Leather Shag Rug Cleaning Donâts
It is very important that you never use chemicals on your leather shag rug. Leather is a natural material that will break down and stain or ruin easily if exposed to chemicals. By the same token, an upright vacuum will also ruin a leather shag rug by rigorously pulling at the material.
