The smell of thsi was that of rope , lots of rope and I do mean lots. It shedded constantly until I decided to retun. I don't believe it would even be good outside as birds would take it apart for their nests.

It looks ok, like picture and it is what I wanted for a problem area. But within days little "burrs" started popping up. After a couple of weeks they are everywhere. Afraid to trim might start a row of weaving to pull out. There is also an area that looks like faulty weaving. As it is more of a "rough" look item this all sort of blends in. Its what I needed at a decent price - but it is not high quality - however with this price you are not paying high quality price either. It will do. Would I order again? not sure, would have to see how it holds up with these "burrs"

This is a beautiful looking rug. I got the lighter version, which blends really well with our lighter hardwood floors. It's thicker than the rug I replaced, but hasn't caused any tripping problems. So far, I don't see the need for a mat underneath. It smelled very "earthy" for a couple hours but there was soon no smell at all. I'm very pleased with it. Shipping was quick and it arrived in good condition.

This rug is exactly what I wanted. It is described accurately and everyone's reviews really helped. The only negative is there is a dusty-ness that accumulates under the rug, but it is easily wiped up or vacuumed up. I just run my vaccuum over the rug and it takes care of my dogs' hair. I also love the chunkiness of the rug, it really makes a statement. Reminds me of something I'd see in ***. Love love love

This carpet is very thick, rough, and inflexible. Not a comfortable carpet... think giant welcome mat. It smelled of dirt when it was first removed from the plastic wrapping, but that quickly went away. Don't plan on putting furniture on this.

Nice quality jute rug. I have the plum color. The picture is accurate, it's a very nice and THICK jute rug. The thickest I've every owned. I like it.

Overstock is really never disappointing. This rug is exactly as photographed. The weave is sturdy and the rug is very soft under your feet. It is a real bargain compared to other similar braided jute rugs I have seen online and in stores.

I was looking to find a neutral rug with a rustic, natural look but Pottery Barn-type rugs were out of our budget. This rug in natural is EXACTLY what I was hoping for and more! We have had the item for almost six months and it looks the same as the day we bought it, except for some slight relaxing and fraying in the fringe on the ends. This rug gets frequent traffic but you can't see any evidence of dirt or wear on the surface. We did not experience any offending smell as some reviews have reported. The only scent when our rug was delivered was an earthy/grassy smell that I would have expected given the material. There is some shedding of dirt that is evident only when you pull the rug up. Sometimes I find a few of the natural fibers have shed as well but the shedding is much less than I have experience with new wool rugs. Our automatic "Neato" vacuum also has no trouble getting up on this rug and vacuuming. Love this rug - and given the quality, durability, and gorgeous aesthetic it brings my room I'd have a very hard time even considering Pottery Barn! Definitely give this rug a look if you are looking for a designer look with a wallet-friendly price! Thanks Overstock!

The rug is in my breakfast area and it has made such a differnce. It really warmed the area up and I have gotten so many compliments. Thinking about buying a larger size for a guest bedroom.

This rug has a lot of texture and is pretty thick. Surprisingly, it is also quite soft underfoot and a bit "shifty" so it needs an anti-skid mat. It smelled a little grassy for the first day, and dropped quite a bit of vegetable fiber dust also, but that is to be expected and it went away. I like it and it is perfect in my entry are to catch the tracked in stuff before it spreads throughout the house.

We love the color and texture of this rug, but it has snagged a lot and shed even more. At first, I blamed my poor long-coated dog, but I soon realized the fibers were shedding in unappealing hair-like lumps. We've used the rug for more than a year now and it sheds some. Frankly, in the end I would say that at least for me, it is worth it to deal with the shedding to have a rug that is otherwise easy care. Because of the dark color, it doesn't stain or show wear... Another positive piece of this purchase, is that the rug was very affordable for us and delivered a lot of style for the money!. We couldn't afford to have our floors scraped and finished, so this became a really helpful solution. It worked well to define the seating area in our apartment living room and is durable in an area that gets a lot of traffic.

Funny story...I had purchased this rug thinking it was a light tan color, but I was pleasantly shocked when a dark chocolate one showed up. It is beautiful and we get tons of compliments on it.

The price was great..alot lower than I found anywhere. Because of the chunkiness of the rug, it makes it look expensive. I am very pleased, matched my coastal decor great. I was looking at Pottery B*** and glad I found this...I think it looks better and saved lots of $$$. Did have a almosty a moldy smell the first day or two, but quickly went away.

I love the look of this rug. It goes with the wicker and rattan look we have in our FL home. I would have given it 5 stars but the maintenance and care due to shedding is just too bothersome to give it a higher rating. Do not hesitate to buy this rug! It is well worth it. I bought the 5*8 but wish I had gone for the bigger one. However, the next size up was twice the price, so I didn't do it. I can make this work, though, and may just buy another in this size to fill my space. I am using it my "beach themed" room so the look is perfect! Contrary to what others say, it did NOT smell at all, and I have not seen any fibers dropping off it except when I first took it out of the packaging. Even then, it was insignificant. I am a long time O customer and and once again, very pleased with the quality and price I found here!

This rug really is gorgeous. The picture doesn't do it justice. It is very chunky....it looks almost like ropes of slightly different colors woven together. I absolutely love it! It is comfortable to walk on and sit on, and best of all, it shows no wears or stains. I have spilled coffee on this rug a number of times, and when I went to clean it up, I couldn't because I could not tell where the coffee had fallen. My puppy also digs at it and plays on it all day, and it has held up beautifully. As some other reviewers have said, little pieces of the rug do come up and come loose every once and a while (at least they do with a puppy around), but I just snip them off and am done. And it does leave a little dust underneath the rug, BUT WHO CARES? I never look under there, and it doesn't spread out from under the rug at all. I would highly, highly recommend this rug to anyone who wants to add some texture to a room - it really makes a statement, it isn't just a neutral. LOVE!
