Handmade Blossom Blue Wool Rug (8' x 10')

We purchased this for our living room for our baby to have a safer place to practice standing and falling and to play in general since we have tile throughout the maine living area of our home. The other reason we got it was to add color and texture to our room and it fit our personalities and tastes pretty perfectly. I love the rug from afar! I have 2 knocks. First, it is bumpy even after placing it on an overstock-purchased thick rug pad. I'm not talking about the height difference between the loop and pile (which I like). There are some big waves that are not settling down as much as I expected. This is in the very middle of the rug where we sit and lay. My only worry with this is that my dad and older people who do not pick up their feet that well or have to use canes/walker will be more likely to trip. Second it sheds A LOT. Now, getting a natural fiber rug was important to me and I had read reviews on many wool rugs complaining or noting shedding so I was prepared. What I was not prepared for was the dirt it sheds like pieces of straw. It's almost as if they didn't wash the wool before they dyed it and wove the thread. Its straight off the sheep! I have filled at least 5 dyson canisters full of shed from this rug and because of the uneven texture I can't get it all every time. Each day I vacuum (every day or every other day) I can get an entire canister if I want in a non-obsessive manner. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. I just knocked a star for each issue I have. Hopefully this rug will last us a long time and won't all end up in the vacuum!
