I have had for about 4 months now, not showing any wear. Easy to clean and vacuum. Does show dirt since its black. I wanted an area rug but my dog thinks carpet is a large pee pad, so I went with the bamboo figuring if she did have an accident it would be easy to clean. When we first put it down she marked it a couple times but it was so easy clean was not an issue and she hasn't showed interest since. The pet cleaning products did not lift the paint or stain it. I was afraid my cats would want to scratch it since but they have not. Quality is good, there is some color variation but it doesn't look bad seem intentional. Only issue is one sliver of bamboo looks missing and it shows a tiny bit of white space, I noticed but no one else has. Very large rug for a cheap price, if it wear down in a couple of years I will buy another. Really makes the living room look finished.
My 3rd purchase of a bamboo rug from overstock! I love it. I have a black 8x10 bamboo rug on the outdoor patio under the seating arrangement and it looks terrific. The only issue that the black color shows a little dirt but it is better than the last natural color that showed some mildew from the rain. I also have a natural color one in the living room on the bamboo wood floor and it looks nice. The underside is rubberized so it doesn't slip and it seems nicely made. It's a risk putting one of these outdoors and will likely have to change it out each season but it looks nice. Thanks overstock for another great buy. Shipping was fast and east (and free! with club o membership) and rolling it out was a snap.
The bamboo rug was perfect for under my dining table. My previous rugs always got disgustingly matted down in the corners where everybody walked on all the time. This rug does not have not problem. However, two days after I put the rug down, one of the seams on one end came lose and unraveled. We had to get crazy glue to glue it together. It was a very cheap rug so I thought I wouldn't bother sending it back for another one but that was a bummer. Otherwise, the color is great, very modern, and it feel good under my feet.
Did not like these at all. The images showed the wood to be treated, but still visible texture - the rug when arrived was a shiny painted black, could barely tell it was bamboo. Looked a bit like a large garbage bag, didn't like it - too expensive to return so kept it, only lasted about 2 months before the bamboo strips started ripping up. Not worth the price, or your time..
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Was full shiny black, unlike the picture which shows it to be a variation of black treated wood
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Cheap!
I consider this more of a mat than a rug. I didn't use it until I moved into a new home that had heated floors. After using it under my platform bed for about 3 months, I moved the mat and bed to another location in the room and found that little rubber-type dots on the backside of the mat that I think were there so it wouldn't slide around had melted to the ceramic tile floor and was a mess to clean up. This isn't the right product to use as I did, this summer I'm going to try it out on my deck.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Good

Great rug, priced much less than anywhere else but not sacrificing quality. We used the rug in the bedroom and placed the bed on it. Be aware if you put weight on the bamboo and have it sitting on carpet you will want to place something like cardboard or a thin plywood sheet under the stress points to avoid warping. It looks amazing and really gives the room the extra depth it needed, thanks once again overstock for yet another great purchase.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? it is a full black bamboo rug, the greyish hint on the picture is just a glare
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. there were a couple small flaws but nothing that would prevent me from making the purchase again
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? it was accurate
I have ordered 4 of these over the past year. I did find with my last order, it wasn't specified that instead of the plain black bamboo, there's another version of the rug that is sold under the same picture, but comes with each bamboo strip wrapped in a black twine. The 'ink' was still a bit moist when I unpackaged it, but dried completely within a few days. They're easy to clean, just sweep, vacuum or if need be, wipe with a damp cloth then wipe dry. I am using them on hardwood floors, so they may feel a little flimsy on top of too plush of a carpet. Other than that, no complaints here!
DO NOT put it on a fluffy carpet, particularly if you will have anything sitting on it. aka bed posts, dressers etc. I even put boards underneath the rug so my bed posts did not damage the bamboo... but it wasnt long before the bamboo rug started to warp and splinter and then long peices would rip off and/or stick up to jab people in the feet... I may buy another bamboo rug some day, but itll be for a room with hardwood floors, never on another carpet. : /
This mat is very elegant looking. We bought it to protect our carpet because we have pets. Hardwood floors would be better because the mat sinks in our carpet but we took a reviewers advice to place cardboard under our couches legs to prevent tearing, etc. The only complaint we have is that it collects dust, etc and we have to broom it everyday or so.....It's black, so it is going to happen.
This is a nicely made bamboo rug and the edges are sewn extra well. However, it is our dining room rug and every time we move a chair in and out from under the table, it makes a scuff on the rug. It's as if the rug has a weird finish on it that is easily marred. So now we have these grey scratches/scuffs all over the rug. I think in time it will all be scuffed and won't be so noticeable, but since it's new, it's quite noticeable. If you're not using it in a high traffic area, I recommend the rug. If you're using it in a high traffic area, buy something else b/c it scuffs easily.
I could not be happier with my purchase! The black bamboo is classy and is extremely comfortable to walk on. As a bonus, it works to insulate the noise that comes from moving dining room chairs across a slate floor. I looked at several high-end stores for a rug to place in our dining room that would look elegant with our slate floors and complement our furniture. I am so VERY picky! I wanted something classy yet durable because this room is used daily and can be seen from our entry way. I wanted a black or deep gray rug; however, with teenage sons and 2 dogs, I worried I might find a dark color rug required more work than I had time to put into keeping it clean. Because I might end up tossing it out, I didn't want to put a lot of expense into this item until I found whether I could successfully keep a dark rug clean. One late evening I happened to check the rugs at Overstock. To my surprise, I found this rug at a small fraction of what I almost paid. I'm amazed this quality rug was so affordable. We paid a fraction of what it was worth. The stitching is done very well. The wood slats are uniform and lay flat. I have had this bamboo rug now for several weeks and it gets used regularly by the whole family (dogs included). Someone is always coming and going and frequently I hear how beautiful it looks. It really does look as beautiful today as the day I put it down! The ONLY negative is that because it is black, I damp mop it almost daily to keep the dust off it. This rug is so beautiful though that I'd buy it again. I couldn't be more impressed with how beautiful it looks and how inexpensive it was. Overstock you rock! By the way, I won't need to replace this with a more expensive rug any time soon, this one is a KEEPER!
I got the 8 by 10 black bamboo rug and it is beautiful. It looks like wood, very nice. I believe that the picture on Overstock is from the smallest rug. It looks much better than the picture. In real life it is not wavy at all. My only concern is that I put it on top of my carpet and underneath my couches. I felt like the weight of the couches was going to break the bamboo (because it is cushy due to the carpet). I put pieces of plywood under the couches' legs to make the distribution of the weight more even and it worked. Also, you cannot beat the price. Very nice product!
