I purchased this area rug several months ago and was just able to lay it today. The color is beautiful however the the odor from the rug is foul!!! I sure hope it fades out because it is the first time I have ever laid a new rug that smelled so terrible. Other than the odor the rug is just what I expected.
This is a heavy and great quality rug. Heavy canvas backing. You can not lift this alone. It is a high pile and consists of both skinny and fat strands, and black strands of each, and white strands of each. The white strands have a pretty shine to it. There is an odor as others have mentioned. It smells familiar and I believe it's a common smell from other rugs and furniture I've bought. A little febreeze hides the odor well until it dissipates on its' own. You cannot see through the strands because there are A LOT of strands! Very good. My sister ordered another brand of a similar rug and you can see the canvas backing through the strands - EW! I have used my regular heavy vacuum on "high carpet" and it works good but is hard to push, so I just pull the vacuum. Very minor shedding so far, and I am comparing this is another shag rug I had from that popular affordable furniture company with a four letter name.
I wanted a shag rug for my bedroom and although the color is nice (gold), it is rough on the feet.
