The rug is great and is as expected. A couple of years ago I was pricing seagrass rugs and they were unaffordable so it is great to see these at such reasonable prices. It appears to be very sturdy, the cat scratches on it and it has shown no damage yet. My one complaint, and the reason it did not get 5 stars, is that the corners are still not laying flat, even after two weeks of being weighted down with books. It has a nice contemporary look to it. I'd like to get some for the patio, but I don't think the bond edges would weather well.

This rug is sewn crooked. It looks crazy. I plan to use it for a while, and replace. The edge is supposed to be cotton, but it looks more like plastic. The seagrass part is fine, but the edge looks like a child sewed it on. Very crooked. Do not buy.

it has a distinct smell, is not comfortable to walk in with bare feet or to sit on. difficult to vacumn or get spills out of but it gives some texture and makes a room feel less formal...

If you like to put away the woolen throw rugs in hot weather and enjoy a fresh, cool summer rug, this is a great choice. I've had smaller seagrass rugs in our living room and enjoyed them a lot in steamy weather (and so has our cat). They smell great, bear heavy traffic well, don't show dirt too much (unlike a lot of sisal rugs) and are easy on bare feet. I had priced larger versions all over, and this was a real bargain. The quality is the same as those I'd paid significantly more for, and the shipping was very fast, convenient, and nearly free. What's not to like?! Thanks!

I was looking for a cottage-y livingroom area rug (with or without backing) in the 5x8-ish size. After having read the reviews (potential for odor, difficulty flattening, etc), I still bought it for its value. I was pleased upon receiving it. The order dissipated within 2 days. I reverse rolled (and applied some weight) to the areas that flipped up and that helped to flatten it. The texture is rough (but not uncomfortable to me) though my toddlers complained about hurting on their feet and knees when playing. So if you're sensitive to texture, reconsider purchasing this one. For its size, cleaning by rolling up and beating it outside is challenging by do-able. If it requires deeper cleaning (because of food or something embedded in the grains of the weave) a scrub brush works but not that well. The texture is SO intricate, that anything mushy will NOT be completely removed (there will be crumbs stuck deep into the weave). So 1 year and 4 months later, we do not have the rug anymore. I moved it outside for a deep hose down. I had difficulty drying it out (it is a large and heavy rug) as water weighs it down even more. It took a full sunny day to dry over the deck rails. I found the adhesive between the cloth binding and rug beginning to desintegrate. After a few days outside, it was ultimately disposed of (the water reactivates the odor more strongly). I've since replaced this rug with the Magic Makeover 5x8 rug in linen (it is cotton, no backing, and machine washable). For this seagrass rug, I recommend to those households without pets and without kids. We don't allow shoes inside the home, so if wearing shoes indoors is your routine, consider that this rug would require more frequent cleaning. In retrospect, I think this rug is better suited in a dry covered or enclosed porch that could benefit from its sturdiness but an area that doesn't need to be *so* clean. It is afterall, nearly outdoors!

The picture shows them a bit browner... they actually come in slightly golder in color, but they are wonderful rugs, with high craftsmanship - and you cannot beat the price (especially for shipping from Overstock!)

The rug was not the color it appears to be in the illustration. It is much darker. It is very rough underfoot. Also, the border is dirty.

This is a great rug for the money. The texture is much coarser than I thought it was going to be but it has grown on me and I actually like how it fits in with my decor.

I would recommend this rug to any buyer, I have it in my kitchen which is a high traffic area, this rug is an excellent quality for the money and its great at hiding dirt and stains.

Nice rug, especially for the price. The seagrass part is a little darker in person than in the picture, but it actually looks nicer than in the picture. Very sharp - definitely better than the jute rug we had which had fallen apart. We are using it in our dining area in the kitchen and it looks sharp and seems sturdy enough to stand up to dog and toddler traffic. I did not have any issues with the smell.

Its not exactly what I thought, but its very unique and I do like. . . I think. I have had some complaints that you don't want to walk barefoot on them. But they have a classy look and look great at a beach house. The backing is kind of strange rubbery stuff and at first I thought it was flawed since it had holes in it, but that appears to just be the nature of the backing and how it adheres to the seagrass.

I really like my rug. It did smell for a few days and took over a week to flatten out from being rolled in the warehouse. It is also a little rough on my feet, but I think it looks great in my office.
