This rug was pretty good for the price, I will say that it had quite a few pulls in it and I was pretty disappointed with that but it wasn't overly expensive so maybe we got what we paid for. Also the image here makes it look like it is more contrasting then it actually is, it is actually much lighter and more tonal in color, which was fine for us but might be something to consider if you are purchasing this. I have never bought a rug online before and overall it was an OK experience. In the future I probably wouldn't buy another one that didn't have former reviews though.
We saw the bad reviews on the quality, but we were lured by the shockingly steal-me price and cool design. When it arrived, we immediately LOVED it. After many, many, many failed attempts (i.e., loads of wasted time & $$$) to find a suitable rug, we were/are thrilled to have found exactly the look we wanted. That said. . . The reviews have begun to haunt us. After about a month of owning the rug, we've snagged sections of fiber and have small tufts of loose strands that are threatening to cause a total rug revolt. With each pass of the vacuum, new insurgents rise to the cause. Sigh. The rug reminds me of people I've met: Looks great, but requires extra TLC and has increasingly obvious issues. Still, at the end of the day, I'm glad I bought it. Guess I'm shallow when it comes to home furnishings.
I had a problem with the rug. It stunk. It came wrapped in plastic and when I unwrapped it the moldy smell was overwhelming. At first I thought it was the plastic but soon realized it was the rug itself. Evidently the rug had gotten wet and then was wrapped in plastic while still wet. I thought naively that it might "air" out but it did not. My bedroom stunk to high heaven. I phoned O.co and they arranged to replace the rug. I had the smelly rug in my house for a few days before I shipped it back and now my whole house stinks like mold. The replacement rug came and does not smell moldy, thank God. However, although it looks identical to the first rug it does not seem as thick as the first rug. However, I am satisfied with it and will keep it.
I bought this rug 3 months ago and it is wearing poorly. The rug has two different textures, one of cut pile and the other looped fibers. The problem is the looped fibers are constantly unraveling as they are being pulled from vacuuming and just getting caught on other things. I expect that I will be replacing this rug in a year. I would send it back but for the price it's not worth the money or effort since it is no easy task to roll and wrap such a huge rug to send back. I took a risk and lost with this purchase.
This rug came damaged, so I returned it. It had a few small "bald spots" in the pile so that I could see the white backing beneath. Even without these flaws though, the rug was not what I'd hoped for. The color was pretty hideous--sort of a dirty looking "office drab", and not a pretty tan/neutral. The pile was rather thin, not plush, and it was smashed in several places so that it looked like the rug had been used. Overall, not what I've come to expect from an Overstock 100% wool rug. Overstock gets an extra star because the customer service was good and hassle free about the return. But the rug itself gets a single star. I've bought a couple of other rugs from Overstock and have been delighted with the quality, so I was surprised and bummed at how badly this one missed the mark. I've ordered a different rug to replace this one. (Here's hoping!) But as far as this rug goes, I'd give it a miss.
This rug is a light tan /beige not too brown or gray- and it's not ivory. The design is created by different textures of the same yarn. One texture is made by cut pile. The other is by looped yarn in rows giving a ribbed appearance and is slighter higher than the cut pile. It's fun to touch and soft enough for little knees. There are pulls or longer yarn strands here and there. That's the only negative so I'd give the rug 4.5 stars if that was an option. I'll just cut them and see how the rug holds up to three little kids. It's a fairly thin rug, which is good so I don't trip over the edges. I used an inexpensive Ikea rug pad and the rug feels soft underfoot. To get an idea for the pattern repeat- each full large diamond is 5ft x 3.5 ft. The lines are about 2 inches wide. The rug is neutral but interesting, one color but lots of texture. The price is fantastic. I don't know where you could get a cooler rug anywhere near this price.
