Hand-tufted Amritzar Wool Rug (8'9 x 11'9)

We absolutely LOVE this rug. Unfortunately, it was way too large for our area so we had to return it. Return shipping was just under $**** to get the label from Overstock.com, plus another $**** for UPS to pick the rug up (it's VERY large!). The colors are more of a beige than ivory background and what is described as 'red' is really 'rust' - a very lovely pattern.

I had hunted and hunted for a hand tufted rug that was in the colors I needed. So I searched the Internet, which, believe me, was not by choice. (Seriously- purchasing a rug sight unseen?) But when I came across this one on Overstock I decided the much lower cost warranted a try. One of the reviews said that the rust color was really pink. I didn't want PINK, but another reviewer used the term - "terra cotta." My family decided that if someone used that term, they probably knew what color that was. Indeed- terra cotta is the correct description, although another term could be "salmon." The colors are not bold, but rather subtle.... with a lighter color than "rust," but exactly what I wanted. It does have a lighter olive green and more gold than the pic, but for the price and since I hadn't found anything that fit the bill as well, I happily kept it. I was astounded when the shipping was only $2.95 even on a 9X12 tufted rug! It weighs a ton.

Sorry to say, this rug did not work out. The "red"color so many people tried to describe, is really pink. Plus it is more of a plush rug, like carpet. You can clearly see each individual yarn instead of the yarns being blended together (I believe this is what hand-tufted means.) It could work in a house that has other light, or pastel colors, but not with dark reds and blacks.

I ordered this rug wanting something warm and gold, but it is ivory and a cool color. The "gold" accents are more of a dark tan. The border is terra cotta, not a rust shade. When moving it to a bigger room to roll it up to return, we discovered it looked nice in THAT room so we ended up keeping it, but it does not look anything like the pictured rug.
