The description says .625 in. thick, its not. Its as thin as an indoor/outdoor carpet. The field color is dark beige, not ivory or cream. This rug should be in a cabin or beach house, NOT a traditional dining room. If you're looking for a more formal rug, do NOT order this one, you'll be greatly disappointed. This rug is meant for an extremely casual lake house/cabin type environment. Website does not accurately describe this rug, very misleading. BEWARE!! I am returning this rug.
I ordered this carpet for my home office, after buying one for my husband's office and seeing how nice it was. As other reviewers note, the pile is NOT .625 as is stated in the description, so it gets 4 stars not 5. The actual thickness is 3/8", which is perfect for an office, because my chair can roll on it easily, even with a chair pad. The carpet is not made of individual knots, but looks more like a form of needlepoint, with tight loops that slant in opposite directions with each row, creating an interesting chevron texture. The loops have not pulled, even after months of daily use. The colors are muted but lovely, and perfect for my room, which is painted light yellow. The center background color is a light brown/beige, not cream, but that's fine. The pattern has more detail than is visible in the product photos; all of the main design elements are outlined in a different color - sometimes contrasting, and sometimes just a different value of the same shade. The carpet is 9x12. There was no weird smell. It arrived tightly wrapped in plenty of plastic, and it was perfectly clean and dry when we opened it up, so it survived winter shipping. Now my husband and I have beautiful, hand-made wool rugs for our offices, for a price we could afford. We intend to purchase more carpets for other rooms in the house. Thanks again Overstock!
