We recently updated our living room furniture and I purchased two rugs (one for the living room and one for the dining room) that I had hoped would compliment each other. As you can never tell the exact color of a rug from the computer image, I based my selection on the written descriptions and reviews. I absolutely love the rug we selected for the living room but was not at all happy with this one. I was expecting a rug with a gold base, and this one is definitely olive green. It is much darker than pictured and, as another reviewer describes, changes color with the lighting and probably the angle, as well. From our living room, it looks very much like the picture as shown with a gold base. However, standing in the dining room, it is a very dark olive green. The outside border is a rust color, and is a fairly good match to the other rug we selected, so we will probably keep it, but I never would have picked it had I been given the opportunity to see it up close. In regards to workmanship, the pile is slightly thinner than the rug it replaced and will definitely require a pad. I'm hoping it grows on me.
