I was looking for the perfect piece of furniture to organize all the paperwork that always seemed to end up on and around the dinning room. And this was the answer. It holds everything and looks very nice also. The shipping was fast, the assembly was easy, the hardest part was getting it out of the box. It is darker than shown, but still looks great!

I just got my new desk and I'm very impressed with the quality and workmanship of the woodwork especially considering the amount of $ I paid. It is quite sturdy and will hold everything I need to pair down my home office.It is slightly darker in person that the picture, but another reveiwer noted that so I was expecting the color.My only "complaint" if you could call it that, is that the file shelving is not attached and sort of floats around in the inside of the desk.

We are very happy with our beautiful new desk. It arrived the day it was scheduled to arrive and couldn't have been packaged any more protectively. All we had to do was put the legs on! It fits perfectly in the spot we had chosen and is exactly what we were looking for.

Easy to assemble secretary. Small enough to fit anywhere. The color is darker than shown. The carving is nice, the desk fits in with any decor. It has nice pigeon hole area for letters, etc, a nice fold down writing top, and a handy file drawer. I am very pleased with this item.

I had a small space available to me and wanted to fill it with a desk where I could pay bills and park my laptop. As I shopped around on the web, and in brick-and-mortar stores, I got the feeling that I was going to have to choose between an expensive desk in the style I preferred, or a cheaper, kid's desk in a style I was most emphatically not thrilled with. When I found this desk, at this price I thought there had to be a drawback, but so far it's been exactly what I wanted. The look is good, it's the right size, and the price was the best I'd found anywhere for this type of desk. It's fantastically easy to put together, requiring only a few minutes to attach the feet. My unit did come with a significant crack at the back, but as it doesn't show and doesn't compromise the function, I didn't feel it was something that needed to be addressed. However I would advise buyers to check their units before destroying the packing. The wooden insert for bills and such is adequate to my needs, and the drawers (two small and one larger) are good and deep, if not particularly large overall. I'd offer one caution: If you tend to push off on something as you stand up, don't do it on this desk. It's likely to tip forward.

My mom offered to buy me a pieceof furniture for a housewarming gift, I chose this because I needed a small desk to organize bill paying. I LOVE this desk. It is a nice warm reddish brown stain that matches my mahogany antique nicely, the carving is beautiful and the lower area is a large file drawer with hangers for hanging files! The table section that pulls down is fairly large: enough for my lap top.This also has a nicely finished back so it can go in your living area and the back will not look cheap and unfinished. It does have a slightly different smell to it but not offensive at all to me, it is kind of like some "antique smell" kind of a light vaguely musty smell. No big deal in my mind. I love this desk!

I was trying to decide whether ot not I wanted this desk or the Bill-Payer Desk. I understand that the picture makes it look like it will hold alot IF you don't close the top door. Also the SMELL of the CAMPHOR wood is really bad. On the Bill Payer Desk I got out the Lemon Pledges and sprayed it on and used a paper towel to wipe it off. The carvings took out little pieces of paper towel so I suggest using cloth. The Lemon Pledge or any kind of furniture wax will probably help with the smell by sealing it in. I have places a nice smelling Raspberry Air Freshner container on the top too. The small Size makes me wonder what I will put in it? Yes I would recomment it to a friend but I would let them know what to expect.

I am not normally a fan of elaborate furniture, including anything carved, but this desk is very cute. The carving is nicely done and looks hand crafted. The color is richer and deeper than pictured, which is great. I love the size and there is a surprising amount of space inside. The bottom drawer isn't really mentioned in the blurb with the product photo, but there is a big drawer below the 2 little drawers. All in all I am most satisfied. My husband had it assembed before I got home so I can't comment except to say that he told me it was a piece of cake. Very nice! Thanks, Overstock.

The desk came in one piece except for the legs; that took less than ten minutes; did find one tiny nick on one side but over all it the desk is a beauty. BUT I don't know of if other people had this problem, but there is an overwhelming smell like heavy duty varnish; when I opened the top part of the desk (it has been 4 days) a strong smell comes out. Have to open the window and pray that this smell goes away.hope this helps.

This is a very nice desk and shipped quickly. I was a little unhappy with the size you can not put much in the inside of the desk top part is is only about 10 inches. If you are looking for a place to put a few items this is a good piece of furature. The little drawers will not hold a 12 inch ruler and the bottom draw will hold only haning files you can not put any taps on the folder if you do the draw will catch. Over all it is a nice desk and looks good in a small space. I did keep it and am trying to make it work. It is more of a writting desk not for all your bills.

It is really nice looking and very easy to put together. The workmanship was very good, but the price was a bit high. I am happy I got it as I have been wanting one for many years.

It is nice looking. There are some areas at the joints where the stain didn't stain, which is why I gave the workmanship 4 stars. Assembly was trivial, although one screw was defective. It works very nicely and it fits into a small area. It is sturdy.

Speedy delivery; ordered Saturday night and received Thursday. Very easy to assemble, just screw on the legs. I really like the product. It's a nice piece to add to your den, office, or bedroom. Good value for the money.

The desk I received is several shades darker than the one in the picture and dors not match my office furniture-- the color in the pic is a light oak and I received a dark finish-- otherwise I like it

This desk is very nicely done , The workmanship is beautiful. The thing I was most disappointed in was the color. It shows up darker than in the picture. For me that was not a happy finding because it was going up against a wood panel wall. The two don't look great together but it will have to work. The best thing about it is the small but perfect size. It does fit just where I wanted it and does look just right sizewise. I had a small space and didn't want that corner to look overwelmed. That has been accomplished. The large amount of space in this small desk is also very nice. It is the perfect place to do my bills and keep them all together. I did think it was a little expensive.

I was amazed at the size of the box when the desk arrived: I had expected a small piece of furniture, but the box made it seem absolutely minuscule. It was packed securely and arrived without a scratch, and once I got the legs attached (which took all of 10 minutes), it didn't seem quite so tiny.It's now in the little alcove I'd held for it, and it looks lovely. Its only function is to help me deal with the mail, and the cubbyholes, the small drawers, and the fold-down front are perfect for that. It's helped me get rid of a lot of clutter. As a number of reviewers have mentioned, the file drawer isn't fully serviceable as such, but it's a great place to keep bills/medical info/etc., as well as pens, stapler, tape and other office supplies.I'm very happy with the desk, as I have been with most everything I've purchased from Overstock.com.

Beautiful craftmanship. My wife and daughter were at home when I unpacked it. They, like me, were impressed by the external carvings. As the top came down, It was supported by two "arms" that came out of the body of the desk as you lowered the writing area. Much smallar than we wanted, but it will be a "keeper".
