Can you provide a better idea of the structure of this rug? It's listed as flat weave, hand knotted and .625 pile. Are their loops on the surface of the rug, or end pieces of wool with pile?
I've been in search of a rug for quite a while. Here were my requirements: Wool (My husband insists wool is best) NOT hand tufted (I ordered a sample of a hand tufted rug from a certain ** and my cat destroyed within a day) No excessive shedding. Durable, this was going under our only dining table. Hides any stains well (see table comment above- I have small children) This rug does ALL of those things. My husband was worried that because it was woven instead of knotted, and it might wrinkle a lot, but with a rug pad under it, we have zero problem. It's high quality, pretty thick for a woven rug, and quite attractive. It doesn't shed at all, my cat's claws seem to do no damage. My only issue was that the color in the trim looks like a light gold/beige to me in the picture, but in reality, it's quite gray. It almost caused me to send it back but the blue in it is really attractive and I like the hints of other colors- reds, olives, golds. I just wish they weren't on dark greige. I expected an overall lighter feel to it. The blue is actually a pattern of a light and darker blue. I think it looks almost teal. It's quite scratchy, but in our dining area that doesn't matter. If it was in an area you planned on spending time on the floor, be aware of that. Overall, I am very happy with it! Plus, I used the O rewards I earned for buying the rug to order an 8x10 rug pad that ended up costing me ***. Awesome....

This rug is very pretty. It's very blue...like an indigo blue and fairly dark and rich with color. It looks like a rug that would fit well in a den. It is well made and the negatives are that it is a very busy print and kind of gives me a headache when I look at it too long - because there is so much going on in this rug. If you like busy, you'll probably love this rug, but if you like simple and basic, this rug is not for you. Also, this rug is flat-weave. Don't be confused by the description since it says hand-knotted and has a pile height. It is thick but it is a flat-weave carpet and probably very durable. Unfortunately I am returning it because I was confused by the description noting pile height, hand-knotted, and flat-weave all in one! What??Read More
I love this rug! I looked for the "perfect" coloring for months. I think this is the most beautiful blue rug on Overstock... lots of color. The blue is a bit more muted than the picture, as it comes off as somewhat of a solid teal. But it still very colorful and has a nice intensity nonetheless. I think it appears this way because the weave is a mixture of a medium to dark teal and dark denim blue woven together. I was happy to see that the variety of the other colors are just as they appear in the picture (gold, peach, sage not just a variety of tans, as they claimed. Then there are the jade and deep wine/red). I was afraid the "tan" shades would be more blah and less varied so I posted a question on Q & A. So yes, there are LOTS of colors (check the Q & A button for my question on the colors for a true description of the colors represented, as the product description is short on a number of colors). It is a very high class rug in appearance; very at home in a country, rustic, or transitional home. For that reason I like that it is more transitional/Euro-American than Oriental. The only drawback was that I was expecting a plush rug, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Still, I can't send it back because it is so beautiful! The texture is like a very thick, heavy and tightly woven Mexican blanket; though much more rug like than any blanket. So it isn't flimsy at all. Don't take me wrong... it is definitely a high quality and heavy rug. It is rough in texture, not soft underfoot, and slightly scratchy. Definitely needs a pad.Read More
Questions & Answers
Hello jesshb, we appreciate your inquiry. This is a flat weave construction, there is no backing. The rug is reversible with the pattern on both sides. The loops are at the end pieces of the wool. We hope this information has been helpful. Thank you for shopping with us. Have a great day!
There are pictures at other stores on the internet that do not look as vibrant in color as yours do (you have by far the best price). For example, the tan colors seem to be more closely related to the brown family than the sages, peaches & golds that I see mixed in with the beiges & tans. I want to know if these are in the same brown family or are as varied in hue as I am seeing. The blue seems to be consistent in all pictures. So here are more specific questions: 1) Is what seems like a light peach actually a tan or does it definitely have a muted peach color (in other words, with a hint of orange)? This color is found primarily on the three larger sized shapes in the vertical center. 2) It seems some of the medium-sized "flower-shapes" nearer to the center are not the same color as the shapes in item #1 but are more of a muted gold than peach. Are they the same color or more of a muted gold? 3) Are the two greens featured in this rug as follows: a) A darker but more vibrant jade; and b) A lighter but more muted sage?
This colors of this rug are caper green, safari tan, mossy gold, praline, mocha, hot cocoa, auburn, caramel, bronze, and maroon. Due to the difference of monitor colors, some rug colors may vary slightly. We try to represent all rug colors accurately. Please refer to the description of the colors shown in the photo.
