Well... I broke the glass blender jar for my family heirloom Osterizer. The blade bearing also seemed to be getting a little leaky... The lid was beginning to decompose a bit... Oher than than that, it still worked like new and it was extremely well-built, quiet and powerful. I had a real tough time choosing between buying replacement parts for almost the cost of a new blender... when the blender was very old and could develop more problems at any time... or just purchasing a new blender. The thing had been around since I was a kid and I was pretty attached, as stupid as it sounds...I ended up buying this Hamilton Beach Classic Chrome and I'm glad I did. At first, I wasn't too impressed. The base is very light. Obviously, the build quality is nowhere near how my family heirloom model was built. The cord is way too short (about 2-feet). The power and performance won me over though. The "wave action" and "ice saber" blades really work! I can make ice slushy drinks with a true, fine, slushy texture thicker than I can drink in seconds and the whole blender jar gets blended. Impressive! The 3-year warranty ain't bad for a reasonably-priced blender either. I know it won't last as long as my old blender did...
This blender replaced a 30+ year old Waring. I wondered if anything would work as well, and I have to say that this one does the job. I read a lot of reviews before I decided on this particular make and model, and I'm very happy with my choice. I also like its classic look and relatively small size. As always, Overstock came through on price, inexpensive shipping (I always wait till there's a good shipping deal), and speed of delivery. It sure beats driving to the mall!
