I've never owned a food processor before and this has made food prep ever so much easier. I use it for making my dogs food (she had a stroke and can't chew very well anymore.) It chops very well. I haven't used the slicer yet. I am very happy with this product. It has also made me try new things for everyone to eat. It is plastic with the exception of the blades.

I would not recommend the Hamilton Beach 14-cup food processor. The chopping blade that fits down inside the bowl works fine, but the shredding blade does not. The food quickly goes under the chute to spin around on top of the blade. So, you have to stop the machine, reload the chute over and over until most of the food is shredded. Using the 'food pusher' only makes martters worse. I like that this unit has an expandable chute space, but I think the expander is on the wrong side and works backwards to defeat the purpose by allowing smaller portions to push the expander to the side and go under the chute as I experienced. I like the suction cup feet that really hold the unit steady and I like the large 14 cup bowl. The total suggested liquid capacity is 3 1/2 cups.
