It is a food processor and works on your ability to control the pulse. Similar to a blender only with a larger base. When I need to dice I always do it by hand. Use this to chop/mush/blend . I suggest google "how to use a food processor" and watch the u tube videos of chefs using it on the cooking shows. That was how I decided if I need one or not. I love soup, this helps to prep the harder to prep veggies and cuts down cooking time on squash, pumpkin soups.
