Hamilton Beach 31508 6-slice Toaster Oven

I was very disappointed with the purchase for a couple of reasons. First, the toaster aspect is not very good. If you want both sides of your bread toasted you have to put the tray in the middle of the oven and wait forever for it ti even start turning brown. You can put the tray up high so the top toasts faster but barely get any toasting on the bottom. The second thing is I burned my fingers a couple of times because the metal area behind the handle is not covered and is the temp of the oven, so you need to be very careful as to how you open the oven. Third is the "timer". If you set the timer too long/far you have to force the knob to a shorter time, It sounds like it shouldn't be pushed that way. I just had a friend in from out of town and she was not impressed with the oven either, so I know it is not just me.

The product works fine so far & is a nice compact size. But the manufacturer failed to label unexpected hot spots & so both my fiance & I burned our hands the first time we opened the door using the handle. You have to do a delicate dance to open the door without touching the area behind the handle, which is extremely hot. There's a warning label (hot area) on top of the oven, but no warning to indicate other areas. Use caution when opening the door to the oven so you don't get burned!

I received this wonderful oven yesterday and right away i prepared a delicious dinner, it works perfectly, was fast, easy, without taking to much time, 4 the price is an excellent acquisition,

I am an appliance cheapskate. I bought a $30 toaster oven about a year ago to replace one that I had had for years that broke. The top heating element broke in an across town move. It was packed just fine. I wasn't too sad though because it always let off too much heat around it and cooked unevenly. Buying this one to replace it was a great compromise for someone like me. It is much, much higher quality than the last one I had but is still a very low price. It has more options than my last one, contains the heat better, cooks more evenly, and comes with more racks and baking sheets. I'd make this decision again.
