"9 Inches Deep" means from where to where ??

The overall dimensions for this item are: 9 inches high x 24 inches wide x 8 inches deep. The total height is 9 inches from base to the top of the light fixture. 24 inches in width is the total length of the fixture. 8 inches in depth is measuring from the front bar to the back plate (also same measurement of the lights).
