I bought two of these sconces to replace older ones on either side of the area above a fireplace mantle. The rest of the hardware in the house is brushed nickel, and the finish on this goes very well with everything else. The house was a former rental that I have remodeled for sale. It is tranitional with vaulted ceilings and these pieces throw the decor to the modern side in a very nice, but not exaggerated way.One very nice feature is that the expensive halogen lights ARE included with the fixtures. (This is not stated in the writeup for the article). These would even look nice on either side of a bathroom mirror or in a dining room. I would avoid using these in a house that is colonial or very traditional unless a very special effect were wanted.

These sconces are perfect and match a torchere (also from Overstock) that we bought earlier this summer. I am using them in a contemporary dining room above a built in buffet. An exceptional value especially since the halogen light bulbs are included. We were replacing existing sconces so my husband installed them himself in less than one hour.

This light looked exactly like it does in the picture. It is sturdy, and good craftmanship. The instructions were terrible, and what should have taken 2 minutes to install with good instructions ended up taking 15 minutes (to figure out how to put the ivory shade and light bulb cover on). The wiring was the easy part! The light output is middle of the road; not super bright, not dim.
