I believe that this unit by Haier is the best 12,000 btu portable air conditioner heater available. After doing much research I came to understand that portable units may lack the cooling intensity of window units and that seems to be accurate. It cools gently but consistently and as quietly as possible. No water trays to dump while in ac mode. For the price, amazing. I have not been able to try the heat, but I bet it will be similar to the ac. I am using this unit in a 12 x 20 studio building with 13 foot gambrel roof.Read More
I would recommend this product to anyone that needs to cool down a 1000 square foot space for under $400Read More

I purchased this portable heat pump to cool a bonus room added to our house, It stated that it could air condition a room size up to 425 sq ft, The room that i put this unit in was only 390 sq ft and the best it could do is reduce the temperture by 2-3 degrees. This product was advertise as made in america, It has a label on the heat pump says made in china. I think if you are going to spend this much money on a protable heat pump it should at lease one tha can cool the sq ft stated.Read More
This unit is great for cooling down small to medium rooms. It's not as quiet as we would have liked, but it works and it serves its purpose. Recently it has started making a clicking sound that resembles the turn signal on a car. I called Haier customer service and they wrote up a ticket to have someone come out and look at it free of charge since its still under warranty. Hopefully the unit will be repairable.Read More

Questions & Answers
This is an 11,000-BTU unit.
does this unit self evaporate or does it need to drain the condensate through a hose? I am trying to figure out if only the LG brand offers this feature or if it has become the norm.
Our unit is set up in a ground level finished off room at our summer house. So, we were able to connect tubing to the drain and run it out through a hole we drilled in the wall. We have not run the unit any other way so I'm sorry I can't answer that question about self evaporating.
How many square feet does this unit cool and or heat?
Between 450 to 550 square feet, depending on other ventilation (fans, etc.) and obstacles. If it?s a room full of furniture you might want to have a fan to blow the cool air around the room, whereas if it is a relatively empty space you may not need one.
CAN you use an adaptor for plug end to plug into wall? I live in an old apartment building and just 2 prong outlets?
It is not recommended to use an adapter with this product. This product must be grounded to be used safely.
Is this brand new or refurbished?

Air Conditioner Air Filter Fact Sheet
Your air conditioner operates by drawing in air, cooling it and then releasing it into your living area. Whether you use a portable air conditioner or a window unit or you have central air conditioning, your air filters will need to be periodically checked and changed. After a while, airborne dust, debris, pollen and other particles may clog your air filters. A clogged air filter forces air conditioners and heaters to work harder and may result in higher energy costs. Dirty or damaged air filters may also shorten the life of your air conditioner. Here are a few facts about air-conditioner air filters help you get the most out of your air conditioner.
How to Install Window Air Conditioners
You can beat the heat without sending your air conditioning bills through the roof. One way is to cool an individual room with a window air conditioner, instead of the entire house, and make it a cool retreat. Air conditioners and heaters can be used to control temperature in a single room without adjusting your home's main thermostat. Most window air conditioners are built for single-hung, double-hung and side-sliding windows. So, you'll need to select an air conditioner unit that fits your window type. These steps will help you to install your window air conditioner properly.
Tips on Buying Electric Heaters for Your Home
A cold room can be a huge inconvenience any time of the year. Keeping an electric heater on hand ensures that your basement won't go to waste in the winter and that your guests will be comfortable during any season, even if you prefer to run the air conditioner nonstop during the summer. Handy space heaters come in many styles and include a variety of innovative features. Look for these options when shopping for electric heaters.
Common Questions about Window Air Conditioners
A great way to beat the heat is by installing a window air conditioner in your home or office. Using individual air conditioners and heaters in your home can take the load off of your central heating and air conditioning system, providing you with significant energy savings over the course of a year. Here are some frequently asked questions about window air conditioners and how you can use them in your home.
How to Size a Space Heater
Before you purchase a new space heater, size it to make sure it will have enough British thermal units (BTUs) to heat the room where the heater will be used. A BTU is the amount of energy needed to heat 1 pound of water 1 degree Fahrenheit. All space heaters clearly identify this number on the packaging, so you don't have to worry about doing any additional calculations.
FAQs about Window Air Conditioners
Window air conditioners can be a life saver in the summer months. They provide a comfortable escape from the hot outside temperatures. Window air conditioners are especially helpful in reducing heat-related health issues and making sleep more restful.
Where to Use a Portable Air Conditioner
You can beat the heat without sending your air conditioning costs through the roof. Just use a portable air conditioner to keep areas of your home cool. Air conditioners work by using either evaporative cooling or refrigerant compressors to cool air. Instead of cooling the entire house, a small, portable air conditioner cools the room you're in at the moment. Even if you have a central air conditioner for your home, you can still benefit from using portable air conditioners.
How Air Conditioners Work
Keeping cool is an essential part of life during the hot summer months, and the right air conditioner will not only make you more comfortable; it can save you money. Knowing how air conditioners work can help you choose the right unit for your abode; size, circulation, power and filters all factor into your decision.

Whether you are short on space, need a little extra cooling in a problem area or just want to keep your personal space at a constant, cool temperature, portable air conditioners are the solution to all your summer woes. Unlike a window air conditioner that needs to be attached to a window or central air conditioners that can sometimes struggle to reach each corner of the house, portable air conditioners can follow you anywhere in the home. Room air conditioners are relatively easy to use, but here are a few common questions to help you use them efficiently.
