If you know what you're doing, this planer is okay. The directions are mostly about safety. There is very little in the user manual about operation. You need to know how to use one of these things if you are considering a purchase. The instructions do not include a diagram showing initial set-up. You need to look at the picture on the box. The gauges are very confusing. Also GRIP ships it out with no packing. It's just a small box bouncing around in a much larger box. I recommend this power tool only if you, or someone you know, knows how to use one
