Looks good and a great idea for a solar bug zapper. However, this thing does not actually kill the bugs. I think it simply tickles them. I am starting to wonder if that is part of the overall environmentally friendly design. After a few weeks of this catch and release pattern, it had only killed two june bugs that got stuck in the latticework.
I thought I was getting a great deal when i ordered this product for my patio. Well it didn't even charge after sitting 10 hours in the sun so I have no idea if it really works. Seems that the 2 1200 ni-cd C batteries aren't even designed for this because the instructions say to use two 2000 C batteries. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I am going to go buy two of the right type of batteries to see if that works, but still don't recommended this as a buy.
This product doesn't work at all. It doesn't even hold power. not for long time. even if you charged it the whole day it dies right away. The look is good, but don't let it fools you.....it doesn't kills bug period..
i would not buy this product again I didnt want to go through returning it so I will keep it. You cant do much with product in daytime
Bought light and after replacing the batteries that didn't work that came with unit have been pleased with its ability to ward off flying insects. It's great not having to plug in an electric cord.
The purple light is really cool in the dark; but, I'm not sure that it's actually attracting and killing anything... It doesn't make the typical 'zapping' noises that the more traditional bug-zappers do; but, there is no annoying 'buzz' either...
It does not store enough power to attract any bugs--I have not seen it kill any buggs.
Not sure of quality for doing the job. It seems to not attract the bugs as a regular light does. Still in process of reviewing.
