Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Maze White 16-piece Dinnerware Set

I was looking for a simple yet elegant style dinnerware for everyday use that had to be somewhat lightweight for my elderly mother to be able to lift and carry, as she's recovering from major heart surgery. The other stoneware dinnerware sets that we own are too heavy for her to lift and she wants to be more productive and able to carry her own dishes. The product description did not give any weight specifications but this dinnerware is thinner and much lighter than any other stoneware products so this set it working much better. This dinnerware is of a nice basic white and there are several rings of texture around the sides which make for an easier grip and subdued pattern. The plates are deep and great for pasta. The cups are a nice size and the bowls are generous in size for cereal, not too shallow yet deep enough to retain heat for soup although I was concerned about the size being too large and heavy for my mother's needs, but they seem to work fine. We have used this set for several months now and have not had any chipping or cracks with any of the place settings, as many of the stoneware dinnersets have been commented on being easy to chip. The price at Overstock makes this an excellent purchase, as I believe these will last quite a few years and the style is elegant and modern. I am tempted to purchase the blue version to mix/match with the maze (white) set for a fun combination.

LOVE this dish set its practical , yet modern and clean . It is dishwasher safe and a perfect set for any type of look

I sent them back. Everything was exactly as described. One review stated that for stoneware they were not too heavy for her mother who has arthritis which is a concern for me, too. But, when they arrived, they were Huge. I started loading them in my dishwasher and it looked as if I were going to feed an army of gargantuans. America is a country of obese people, I have battled my weight all my life, one of the first items of business a nutritionist will tell you to tackle is to eat off of smaller plates so that normal portion sizes won't look lost. The salad/dessert plates in this set were as big as the dinner plates in my current set. I am still on the hunt for a quality set of white dishes that don't weigh a ton.
