Ordered this for a dining room area and am very happy with the purchase. My friend stopped by and gasped when she saw it. The shade is a light ivory, rather a darker cream as shown here: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Glamorous-Oyster-Pleated-Drum-Shade-3-light-Crystal-Chandelier/8085778/product.html Both this light and the one in the link above are hanging in the same combined living room/dining room area and complement each other very well. My only caveat is that the cone shaned piece poking out from under both light fixtures is a polished chrome and NOT metal. It feels like heavy plastic. It looks nice still, but if you are looking for a heavier metalic base for the quality, be prepared to spend more $$$ for a light at a proper lighting store. The "crystals", which in all fairness, are probably glass, have a lovely clear shine and really make the lights look expensive. I cannot speak to the difficulty in hanging the light, but the handyman I hired to do so, had both lights hung in 1.5 hours. Attaching the crystal was the most time consuming. I will also disclose that my very picky spouse first thought the light looked cheap when it was unboxed. Before the crystals are hung and the shade is attached, the candelebra looks cheap due to the posished chrome factor and also because the candelebra bases are made of clear plastic. Once the light is assembled and hung, however, it is gorgeous. A comparable looking (but better overall quality) light would be $800+ at a bricks and mortar lighting store.
The shade on this is very rich looking. I have it hung over my kitchen table which is 42" wide by 66" long. The size looks right. We bought the larger 25" diameter same light and it was way too large. Overstock returned it with no problems. Happy with this look. took some time to put it all together and hang all the crystals, about two hours with two guys to get it just right.
