This umbrella is a nice size - great for a rectangular patio table. Hard to tell from the photo but the umbrella does have 6 ribs to hold the umbrella up. The base of the umbrella is wood and seems fairly sturdy. The umbrella fabric itself is fairly light weight - I wouldn't leave it outside year round. I think it may need to be replaced in a few years since the fabric is thin, but for the price that doesn't bother me. The blue is actually a fairly light sky blue which is also a bit hard to tell from the pic.
Wood flimsy, material thin like a garden flag. I'll be lucky if it lasts out the month.
...but you can definitely find better quality. My husband and I had a limited budget, so we went with this model. It's pretty: We like the medium gray-blue color (lighter than what's pictured), and the wood is a warm cherry . Unfortunately, the construction and mechanics of the umbrella leave something to be desired. It operates on a pulley system to raise and lower the canopy, but the pulley rope keeps jumping off the track or getting stuck in the umbrella frame when it's lowered, so we have to keep putting it back on or readjusting it. In addition, the wood pole has already shown signs of splitting (after one day), so I'm not sure how strong it is. And a small pet peeve: the decorative knob that screws onto the top of the umbrella is also made of wood, but ours had a large chunk missing, like they used an imperfect piece of wood. That said, it should last the rest of the summer, and I figure we can probably save up for a heavy-duty one for next year.
