The portion between the electric fireplace black insert and the light wood mantel piece (looks like a deep purple or grey), what material is that made out of? Also, do you know specifically what color it is in person?... it appears purple and we are uncertain? ascharton on Nov 30, 2012

It is made of MDF construction. It is actually a dark gray, not purple. The lighting in the photo and the light color of the antique white make it look lighter and give it a bluish tint, but it is gray. overstockcustomercare1 on Dec 5, 2012
