If you watch professionals use this product, you get the feeling that you can use it too. However, don't be fooled. The professionals know what they are doing and they do it all day. This installer takes a heck of a kick to tighten the carpet adequately. It would probably work much better (for the novice or lightweight) if used in conjunction with a carpet stretcher (I mean the long bar that has digger teeth on both ends and can be leveraged to stretch the larger cross section of the carpet). Personally, I was not able to get the most out of this equipment. But, a larger installer with a good hefty kick would probably be very happy with it. I have not been able to compare it with other, perhaps more expensive and efficient brands.
