It is what it is. An acceptable futon matress for the money. Since this used regularly as a bad I think I would go with coil springs next time. Just not all that comfortable. Needs a cover the cheap string is vissable for the pleated lookRead More
This futon mattress is firm enough to be comfortable and not feel the futon frame underneath it. But it's soft enough to be comfortable both as a sofa and as a bed. The size exactly fits my full size futon frame. After a day it fluffed up to its full thickness after being compressed from shipped. I am very pleased with this item. I recommend a washable cover for it.Read More
Everything about this mattress is great with the exception of its thickness. I saw reviews that said it was not a full 8-inches thick, and I agree with them. The cover I bought for this mattress is recommended for a 6-inch to 8-inch mattress, and it is loose. I would recommend that anyone interested in buying a futon mattress step up to the next thickness. Dealing with Overstock.com is a pleasure and everything from ordering to delivery went very well.Read More

Ummm... This futon mattress serves its purpose, but thats about it. Cant ask too much for the price, and it looks good on my freshly painted brown couch frame. What I didnt like about this was that it came with WHITE threads and the cover is BLACK. I fixed this by painting the white threads with a black sharpie and VOILA! The mattress is somewhat comfortable to sit on but I dont see myself sleeping on it. Also, the black color is not as deep or rich as in the tittle "test" picture on here. It came in a box all folded and compressed and it took about a day to reach its fullness (once out of the box). Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase but I wouldnt recommend it to any of my friends. Like I said before... It serves its purpose.Read More
This futon is heavy and thick but slumps and molds to your body. It doesnt seem to puff back up and is too heavy tofluff up. It also took awhile to air out the chemical smell.Read More
I bought this mattress for my son's dorm room because all that I saw in stores were either very cheaply made or very expensive. This is a huge deal! He loves it and sleeps on it rather than his school supplied mattress. Very well made and comfy. I plan on buying one now for son who is off to college next year. I was worried having never ordered something like this from Overstock but O co. is becoming my new go to store.Read More
Purchased for futon in our sitting room which serves as a guest bedroom when needed. Arrived vacuum paced, but opened up within 24 hours to full size. Comfortable, firm and perfect for guest bed. Color was just as advertised.Read More
The futon expanded to its full size and is comfortable, but it's not as smooth as the photo (lots of wrinkles/puckers, which I find unattractive). My main problem is the SMELL - like some kind of petroleum-based chemical. It has dissipated but not disappeared after 3 weeks. My cats refuse to sit on it, and formerly (with the old futon) they spent most of their time on this couch. I'm still hoping it will completely off-gas, but frankly I'm worried about potential health effects.Read More

How to Choose a Futon Mattress
When it comes to choosing the right futon mattress for your futon, it can be a tough decision. Futons are very versatile pieces of furniture. These couches that convert into beds can be made out of everything from expensive solid hardwood to inexpensive metal. The choices for a futon mattress are as diverse as for the frames. Some futon mattresses are simply filled with pieces of cotton and wool. Others are one solid piece of foam. Still other futon mattresses contain coils just as bed mattresses do. If you're confused about finding the right one, take a look below to learn how to choose a futon mattress.
How To Freshen a Futon Mattress
Futons are more than emergency bedding for guests. Some owners choose futons over traditional beds because they are often less expensive than standard beds and they are convertible, a feature that is ideal for small spaces. Like traditional mattresses, futon mattresses need freshening on a regular basis so they don't develop odors. The methods of caring for futons range from airing them outside to cleaning them with a damp cloth; what you choose will depend on the state of your mattress. Look below to learn how to freshen a futon mattress.
How to Buy Futon Covers
Futons are typically covered with decorative futon covers to help keep them clean and undamaged. Futon covers come in all kinds of styles, colors and sizes. Whether you're shopping to replace a worn-out cover or looking to change the decor of a room with new and different colors, there are plenty of futon covers available to suit your style.
Best Pillow-top Mattresses for Back Pain
The key to a good night's sleep when you have chronic back pain is as simple as choosing a good pillow-top mattress. Choosing the best mattress involves knowledge of your personal needs and preferences. To get a comfortable night's sleep, start by choosing a pillow-top mattress made from the right materials for you. Next, choose your preferred thickness. Finally, have firm sleep support underneath the cushions of the pillow-top. Below, you'll learn the best pillow-top mattresses for back pain. Choose the materials: Pillow-top mattresses are made from a variety of materials, so choosing the one that is right for you can make all the difference in the world. People with muscle pain should consider down pillow-top mattresses, which provide a cocoon to sleep in. Those with back issues will generally prefer memory foam pillow-top mattresses, which conform to the body and offer consistent support to areas like the lower back. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's information regarding the recommended weight allowances for these types of pillow-tops. Consumers who are heavier than the recommendations may find that the pillow-top cushion compresses in uncomfortable ways, leaving the mattress lumpy. Determine the thickness: Pillow-top mattresses come in a variety of thicknesses, from just 2 inches to 8 or more inches deep. Like choosing the right materials for your pillow-top, choosing the right depth is vital to getting a good night's sleep. Thinner pillow-top mattresses will allow more of the support from the remainder of the mattress to come through and will not develop body indentations as pronounced as those in a deep pillow-top. Pillow-top mattresses that are too soft may fail to provide back support and cause an increase in back pain. However, deep pillow-top mattresses are excellent for customers who suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain. Check the warranty: Just as you would with any other purchases of its size, check the warranty of your pillow-top mattress. Most manufacturers will provide limited, pro-rated replacement warranties for manufacturer's defects, and some will provide a "comfort guarantee." Others may have specific conditions that must be met in order to maintain the warranty, such as having a boxed spring by the same manufacturer. Take note of any special conditions for the warranty and keep the paperwork. View All Mattresses Back to Guides Directory View All Mattresses
