Customer Reviews
I should have read through all of the reviews before buying this desk. It came scratched, banged up (some parts were broken, but we nailed them back together), screws were missing (went and bought more), and there were so many pieces with awful instructions. It took us a total of 10 hours to put it together over 3 days. The drawers are really small and don't slide in/out very easily, so don't buy if you need lots of storage. We're keeping it as a temp desk in our office and will put it in a kids room later. You're better off paying a bit more for better quality!
The price and appearance make this desk worth the purchase and the work to assemble it. The directions were not clear enough; the images needed to be larger. The screws sent to assemble the keyboard drawer were not long enough to secure it to the desk body so I had to buy some at my local hardware store. It is very solid and it looks nice and it works for us. So with the labor pains behind me, I am satisfied with my purchase.
I read a couple reviews about how the desk was hard to put together, and pieces were damaged when they received the desk. YES AND YES. There were multiple pieces damaged, and the prefabricated holes in the desk didn't fit right! I put together almost the entire desk, and then the drawers didn't slide in and out right, they got stuck. Took me almost 8 hours to built the thing.Waste of time and money. Now i have to take it apart and send it back! Really disappointed with the quality.
I am pleased with the desk--seems very sturdy and is attractive. Lots of storage space, especially since hubby converted the keyboard shelf to a drawer, and put shelves in the hard drive cabinet to give even more storage. It was a little beat up, but in areas that aren't very noticeable, but it is a very inexpensive desk. And the assembly is difficult--be prepared to invest a few hours if you have lots of experience. More if you don't.Overall, a great buy. The assembly and the various chips in the finish and the need to change the desk a little makes me give it 4 starts instead of 5.
A very fine piece of furniture, well made and solid mahogany not some type of press board. But, like all else who purchased this desk, the one constant is the same: Poor directions & Poor illustrations
