This folding work bench is similar to the low end model "original" Black & Decker workmate. I have owned one of the Black & Decker workbenches for a few years and wanted another one. Couldn't find the exact model as I think it is now obsolete. I couldn't find a similar prodcut for the price I wanted to pay, so Ichecked "good ole" Overstock and found this one. It came unassembled (in contrast to the Black & Decker that came fully assembled) but it wasn't difficult to put together although I probably spent close to an hour working on it. The included "instructions" weren't much help but all the needed components were included and assembly was mostly a matter of using common sense. Fully assembled it is sturdy and has the same functionality of my old Black & Decker model. I am very pleased with the price I paid for it on Overstock and would recommend this for someone who needs a small folding workbench and doesn't want to spend a lot of money. It doesn't open and close as smoothly as the Black and Decker but otherwise it works the same. I didn't give it 5 stars because the workmanship is not 5 star quality -- but you can't really expect that for this price. Overall, a very good value.
A strictly light-duty workbench, good for hobbyist tinkering if not for a contractor. The bench dogs are plastic and it's possible to bend the metal supports that hold the vise boards if you tighten the vise down hard. Still, you sometimes need something to hold a bit of wood you're sawing on your porch.

OK for light to medium type of work, and the cost makes it a good deal.

My dad was looking for one of these but they cost way more. I just happened to be looking for the perfect fathers day gift when I spotted this one. Dad was very pleased with the quality. He loves it. Easy to put together, sturdy like the more expensive ones at double the price.

Good product, but the instructions for this product is terrible. Does not go into the details, assembling is somewhat challenging.

The size of the bench could be of some concern, if someone is doing a big project. I only wanted it for light work and to mount my grinding wheel. It is light weight, folds easily, the installation directions were easy to follow. The bench is exactly what I was looking for and the price was right.
My husband was wanting a small workbench for our condo. This really fit the bill. He just loves it. Really worth the money.
piece of equipment and good value----------------------------------------------------------
This is a sturdy bench, and good value for the price. It's nice, because I live in the city, and the bench takes up minimal room in my workspace.
overall, bench is a fine version of a workmate. Only issue is that mine arrived a bit damaged- one of the grabbing blocks you use to hold items was crushed. Not worth sending back, so I'm using as is.
Not the highest quality, but for the price, a good buy.
Functional, but pressed metal legs aren't impressive, and the working surface is pressboard. In the realm of "getting what you pay for" this is a good buy. Definitely for the home workman only. And it is less expensive than any other model. I saw a similar item at ***** for around 6 bucks more, and then there is tax, etc. So I'm happy with it. I guess I'm just tired of seeing things made as cheaply as possible. But that's the world we live in.It will do what I want it to do.
It's not great, but it's not terrible. The metal is a little on the weak side, it was bent in a few places (mostly where you bolt it together) when it arrived. But could just bend it back into shape. It's on the cheaper side for quality, but not too surprising for the price. Decent work bench for someone who doesn't need a hardcore work bench. Also, the box arrived with holes in it and was taped back together along the sides. Was also missing a bolt, but not a big deal.
First impression on opening was how old everything smelled. The rubber foot, very neccessary part if you don't want the sheet metal leg scraping your floor, disentigrated in my hand when I was trying to slip it onto the leg. The elastomers were completely gone if they ever existed. The other plastic parts seemed very brittle. The unit is not stable as it is not made with heavy enough metal. I recomend if you are really vertically challenged, and have loads of time to play with attempting to fix things that were poorly designed, and if you don't mind spending your money on something you probably will never use. You could use to collect rust, weigh down a tarp, and possibly crack walnuts, although my money would be on the walnuts.
I bought this for my brother who works on various rental properties. He said it was made well, easy to put together. I haven't checked back to see how it's working for him but he buys and uses a lot of tools in his business and his first impression was very good.
good value, good service, neat product. I would recommend this over the more popular workmate table, for less than half the cost
My Husband was completely happy with this 'Foldable Metal Work Bench' as apart of his Christmas gift and I was completely happy with the cost.
While not the B&D Workmate, it comes in a close challenger. Made of steel and has an adjustable wooden top. Well worth price being asked.
Shopping on the Internet can be so rewarding! I'm so glad I found this super little Work Bench! It is Easy to assemble (just put the right washers with the bolts the first time - hehehh, my mistake) This is Perfect for my use. The pre-drilled holes on the work bench Top - Perfectly fit the bolt holes in the machine I bought the work bench for. I really like the built in tool tray too - It is Very handy. I recommend this to anyone looking for a sturdy little Work Bench!
