Although the instructions say you'll need two people to assemble it, I did it all by myself. The holes are aligned perfectly to receive the screws and wooden connectors. The glue that came in the kit was completely dry and unusable. Luckily, I had a bottle of Elmer's wood glue in the house. Make sure you do too, just in case. Word of caution: follow the instruction to the T. Do not rush! Think twice before you apply the glue. The reason they recommend two people is probably to be able to lift the shelf up from the horizontal position. I was able to do it all by myself, even though I am a female in my late 50's, and weigh 130 Lbs!

If you are considering these, get them,! You wont be sorry. We saw similar ones in a model home and loved them, so glad I bought one. I am actually ordering another today! I put it together by myself and it took about an hour. Would be easier with two people, but easy enough with one. They are beautiful. Thanks again Overstock, you never disappoint me!!

This is a pretty good shelf. It is sturdy and I like the sleek simple look of it. Each shelf level is a different size. I have books, cd's (they are waiting on a new home), and candles on mine. I purchased the shelf to put my books on, maybe some family photos, and a couple of decorative pieces. Really adds something to the room.

Bought this 5 tier ladder bookcase with expectation that it would not be solid workmanship. I was wrong. Bookcase fits perfectly in entryway and was the added decorative feature I was looking for. Took more time to assemble, but husband did it on his own with little assistance from me, which was a bonus. I would recommend this product to anyone. Thanks, Overstock.

I ordered this shelf about a month ago after shopping around and seeing the price here as being lowest (especially with shipping). I was a little concerned with quality given the price, but since the description stated solid wood, I went for it. The shelf looks great, and am pleased overall. Assembly wasn't too bad, but the glue that came with the shelf was not adequate to glue all the dowels and the "buttons" to cover the screws. Not a big deal, but something to be noted. I was able to assemble the shelf alone, though it would have been quicker with a second person. There were some small scratches on the wood, but not noticeable. I am back today to order a second shelf today.

I bought two of these shelves for my living room. Assembly was pretty easy, took my boyfriend about an hour total (to put together both of them). One of them leaned slightly but after a little bit of adjusting they both turned out perfect. They are very sturdy, made well, and look great! I would definitely recommend this product,

I am extemely happy with these shelves, they are very well made and sturdy. I ordered two units and put both together by myself, the first one took me about 40 minutes to put together and the second one about 20 minutes. I would definately recommend them.

I needed a new bookshelf for my new place and I couldn't have been more happier with my purchase. It arrived in a timely manner and nothing in the box was damaged or chipped. The directions say it requires two people to put it together but I was able to do it by myself. It was definitely a great purchase and I am thinking about buying another one.

This shelf was the finishing touch I needed in my bedroom. Easy assembly, surprisingly sturdy, and sleek yet practical. Would recommend this shelf to anyone, especially those working with small spaces. Love the black, very happy with purchase. Will order from Overstock again! Peace.

My daughter is a collector of first edition literature, and the books were really starting to pile up in her room. We bought this bookshelf to hold them, and it does so beautifully. She and her boyfriend put it together and said it was easy. It's pretty and coordinates perfectly with the black and oak furniture in her room. The price was unbelievable and the quality excellent. Just proof you don't ALWAYS get only what you pay for. Thanks, Overstock.com!
