I bought this bookshelf about a month ago or so, and I really couldn't be happier! I personally feel that it was a fantastic value for the price I paid. Took me a little over an hour to put together myself, and when I was finished I was shocked because it was a bit bigger than I had envisioned, not to mention heavier! It's really very sturdy, and I was extremely pleased with the amount of books that it held (not to mention how lovely it looks). I'll actually be buying another one in a couple of weeks. :) Hope that helps!!

This bookshelf somehow looks larger in the picture than it actually is. The height is just over 5', which I was expecting, but somehow the width and depth look larger in the picture. However, it is exactly as advertised, so the mistake is my own fault.The description says it is wood with a black antique finish. It is actually an "engineered wood product", i.e. particle board, but the veneer is real wood (not the vinyl stuff on most cheap furniture). It actually looks good. You can't tell without a very close inspection (i.e. looking at the back, or peering under the shelves and seeing screws that aren't hidden) that it isn't solid wood. I am not embarrassed at all to have this in the living room, and it and a TV stand are replacing a $1000 solid oak entertainment center.All of the pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly. It was extremely easy to assemble. The only problem with parts is that a number of the nails that hold the back pieces on were unusable, but there are way more than you actually need to do the job.

Great for a small space....light to move about. Easy to assemble. Just what I needed in my space.

The shelf is great for the price. It was easy to put together--just repeating the same steps over and over. Some reviews said it was short, but it is the height it's supposed to be. And it's similar in price to other shelves of its size. And for once, it's not just a boring straight shelf. It's unique looking.

This bookcase was very easy to assemble. I worked alone on it and had it together in no time at all. I opted not to put the back on it so that I had access to the electrical outlet and it looks really nice with the colored wall coming through. I think it would look very nice with the back too. It is classy elegant and a perfect addition to my bedroom to hold my reading materials and knick knacks.

The description of this product online is bookcase/display cabinet. When the boxes arrived, the manufacturer describes them only as display cabinets. I do not think they are sturdy enough to hold the books I hoped to put on them. In the description, it also said they are made from wood- this is misleading as they are a composite. You need a powered screwdriver to assemble. There are over 80 screws per cabinet and it was impossible to assemble with just a plain screwdriver.

This is a quality book/display shelf and I'm pleased with the purchase. I needed something rather low profile in terms of space saving, and since the shelf is only a foot deep at it's deepest, this piece more than did the trick. Assembly appeared to be a bit daunting as 126 screws came in the packaging, but it didn't take long--you're essentially just repeating the shelf building process five times, so it's actually quite simple once you've sorted the clearly numbered parts. The shelves are thick, quality wood and though the piece is quite tall, it's very sturdy and balanced so I've experienced no wobbling even on carpet. I personally couldn't use this solely as a bookshelf since the style is really more for displaying items, so if purchasing for storage of oversized books, definitely double-check the dimensions. My only real gripe is the flimsy poster board backing that seems standard on any shelf unit of this price range. Instead of hammering it on, I've opted to just leave it off so I can take advantage of the open back to plug in a clock or a small radio. All in all, a good looking shelf that would cost 2X this at any local brick and mortar store.

I just finished putting this bookcase together and the end is result is perfect! I love the styles and the lightweight of it. I put my decors and books on the shelves and it just looks great!

It was fairly easy to put together but not because the instructions were clear. The instructions were lacking but since I had put several pieces of box furniture together, I was able to do so by myself while my children were napping. The ANTI-TIP STRAP IS NECESSARY AND COMPLETELY INADEQUATE. the little eyelet popped right off with very little pressure. We ended up getting stuff from Home Depot to secure it to the wall because it was VERY prone to tipping sitting on carpet against a wall.

I bought this piece to add some height and dimension to an otherwise boring square room. Many reviews said it was real wood, but it is not. Particle board is not real wood. It is tedious to piece together. It took my friend about an hour to complete. However, it is definitely worth it! I am actually planning to buy two more for my house!

Went together easy using the instructions. Be sure to sort out pieces first by size and number. Only took about 30 minutes start to finish.

This bookcase is both decorative and functional. The tiered style (the shelves get smaller each level) and the cut out on the end of each shelf means the bookcase works in my contemporary split-level house better than a more formal or traditional style. I like it so much, I bought a second, and they are against one wall, separated by a large print with a lot of black in it, and it looks very put together, but not stuffy.

We got this bookcase for my 3 year old's room so I wasn't that big on getting a quality piece. This item exceeded my expectations. It looks great, and was fairly straightforward to set up. It's not the highest quality but you can see that in the description and the price. It definitely looks more than its worth though. Highly recommend.

I love this bookshelf. For the price it looks good, can hold a lot of books and knick knacks and is very sturdy. Putting it together was really simple. It did chip in a couple of places (reason for the 4 star) but nothing I was overly concerned about.

When I first opened the box and saw the instructions, I said "Oh, crap!" I am not very good at assembling products. But I laid everything out in numerical order, counted the pieces and set to work. The shelves turned out very nice and I am proud of myself. It did take me 3 yours unassisted, but the time was not tedious. The shelf is a very nice addition to my guest room done in anitques.

This shelf arrived very well packed and with simple assembly instructions. I had it put together in a half hour and the result was a great, sturdy shelf. This isn't a cheap, ready to assemble piece. It is a real piece of furniture!

It looks very nice once assembled, and it assembles fairly easily. In some places the screws would not secure in the fiberboard. (This cabinet is not made of wood.) At some point, if I decide to move the cabinet I will glue the weak areas, however it is very sturdy where it stands.

Great shelf unit for our office nook. It is of expected quality for the price, nice black finish and ours did not have any imperfections in the finish. Wait to put the black screw covers on the outside until you are done assembling and have the piece standing upright...that way you can tighten the screws again as you stand it up. The last step indicated to nail in eighty tiny brad nails for the back panels, so we just used our brad nailer instead. That would have taken a while. Great shelf unit, I'm happy with it and it suits my space perfectly.
